However, it is important to note that this task is very difficult and will take many attempts before they can unlock the true ending. Here’s a list of steps you need to follow to get the true ending in Shovel Knight Dig.
#1 Sending Altius (owl) Underground: On your right, you’ll find a sign with the purple owl, which is perched on top of the Shovel Knight Dig’s start. The goal here is to strike the owl with the Shovel so he can get ready for his flight in the air. Meanwhile, keep an eye on Altius’s flight path and leap on him as he flies over the ravine to drop him to the ground.
#2 Finding Altius (owl) in Mushroom Mines: The Mushroom Mines have a total of three floors. The rooms marked with blue lanterns or hidden rooms will have the Altius. After finding the chest in the Mushroom Mines, you can hit it to further complete the biome.
#3 Finding Chester and All Cogs: Before leaving for the Mushroom Mines, you must explore either Smeltworks 1 or Secret Fountain 1 and complete two tasks. The first one is finding Chester to buy the Cog on a String which will cost 1500 Gems. On the other hand, the second task is finding three hidden cogs.
#4 Secret Fountain or Smeltworks Completion: Now it’s time to face and defeat Shovel Knight’s boss. To discover the boss, you must travel to the end of the biome. The last biome you traverse determines whether you take the Secret Fountain or Smeltworks.
#5 Sacrificing Three Accessories Secret Fountain or Smeltworks: The next activity is to collect the three gold statues after completing the previous biome. To discover the statues, you must fully explore all three levels. The statues can be found in rooms with blue lanterns. However, each time you acquire the Accessories, you must make a sacrifice. After acquiring all the statues, you must now defeat the biome’s boss to claim the Skeleton Key.
#6 Finding and Unlocking the Triple Locked Door: Fans of Shovel Knight will appreciate the new biome, The Grub Pit or Magic Landfill. To access the true ending, players must locate a Triple Locked Door. Now it’s time to use the Skeleton Key, which they have earned after defeating the biome’s boss, to unlock it. After making your way through the door, you’ll find Altrius waiting for you with the Omega Driver Relic.

During your journey to the biome, players will come across Drill Knight if they play Shovel Knight.
