Asus RTX 4090 Variants

ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090

The Asus Strix RTX 4090 comes with a new design and aggressive gamer aesthetic. The design is rounded off similar to XFX models that we have seen in the past and I for one really like the new look. The card has a 3.5-slot design and a die-cast metal frame. It comes with a backplate, which is expected from a premium graphics card such as this. It is pretty large at 357mm long.

The graphics card features a 12+4 phase system comprising 70A power stages. Asus recommends using the ROG Thor 1200P2 power supply with the card. There is a BIOS switch on the card that allows users to switch between performance and quiet modes.

TUF GeForce RTX 4090

The TUF cards are supposed to be relatively cheaper. So there is little surprise that Asus has gone with a familiar design. The card comes with a triple fan cooler and there is minimal RGB lighting.

This is a chunky card and has a 3.65 slot design and is 348mm long. The card comes with a die-cast unibody shroud and an aluminum backplate. The backplate has cutouts for better heat dissipation.

The card has 5x 8mm heatpipes and 3x 6mm heatpipies which Asus claims increase contact area by 35% compared to the 3090 model. There is a BIOS switch on the card that allows users to switch between performance and quiet modes.

Asus RTX 4080 Variants

While Asus has not revealed the RTX 4080 variants, I think they should be similar to the ones that we have seen above. Asus has confirmed the models which are as follows:

Note that the USD pricing is a 1-to-1 conversion and the pricing in the USA could be different. Still, these prices are pretty high but then again these should be taken with a grain of salt as they are not officially from Asus. Asus has confirmed that it will showcase its X670E and X670 motherboards at Gamescom 2022, so we might learn more about pricing at the event.

The ROG Crosshair X670E GENE is the model that seems to stand out. Fans have wanted the GENE variant to make a comeback and it seems that Asus has been listening. This is most likely going to be a high-end MATX motherboard with all the bells and whistles but a bit smaller footprint.

Previously, we got listings for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs and if we add the price of these new X670E motherboards and DDR5 memory, it seems that upgrading to the new AM5 platform is going to be pretty expensive. AMD is expected to release mid-range CPUs and we should get B650 motherboards around the same time, so that should make things a bit less expensive.

ASUS TUF RTX 3050 Graphics Cards

Both cards have the same design and specifications and the only difference is in the clock speeds. While the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3050 can boost to 1807 MHz in OC mode and 1777 MHz in gaming mode. The OC Edition can do 1875 MHz in OC mode and 1845 MHz in gaming mode. So minor difference there.

Other than that, both graphics cards come with 8GB of GDDR6 memory,
2560 CUDA Cores and a 128-bit memory bus. The cards can support 4 displays at the same time with a max resolution of 7680 x 4320. For display output, you get 2xHDMI 2.1 ports and 3x DP 1.4a.

The ASUS TUF RTX 3050 cards have a dual-fan design which should keep the thermals in check keeping in mind that this is not a very high-end graphics card. There is minimal RGB lighting on the card but there is a backplate.

The cards have a 2.8-slot design so they are going to take some space, but that also means that there is a beefy cooler to dissipate heat. The cards require a single 8-pin power connector and a 550W power supply unit is recommended.

There is no word regarding the release date as of right now, but seeing how ASUS has updated the pages for these two products, they should be around the corner.

The fans are PWM and can be synced with other fans. All supported fans can be controlled via FanXpert. This is a great all-in-one liquid cooler for Intel 12th generation CPUs that you can buy if you do not want to go with a full-length 360mm radiator.

Asus ROG Strix LC 240 RGB White Edition

The Asus ROG Strix LC 240 RGB White Edition is similar to the above-mentioned model and has the same specifications but it comes in white. If you are interested in building a white gaming PC then this is an option that you should look into.

Asus ROG Strix LC 360 RGB

The ASUS ROG Strix LC 360 RGB is the same as the above-mentioned version but this one comes with a 360mm radiator and triple fans. This is going to be ideal for something like the 12900K and 12700K.

Asus TUF Gaming LC 240 RGB

Compared to the other CPU coolers on this list, the Asus TUF Gaming LC 240 RGB is a budget-friendly option. It does not come with all the frills and thrills but it does the job and comes with RGB lighting on the fans and the CPU block. The 240mm variant should be enough for something like the 12700K and 12600K.

New Asus RTX 3060 Ti benchmark reveals that not only is the graphics card faster than the RTX 2080 but the RTX 2080 Ti as well. The Asus RTX 3060 Ti scores 326720 and 326071 points. The RTX 2080 Ti scores 113604. You can check out the benchmark scores below:

We are not sure which model this is. This could be a TUF version or a Dual variant with 2 fans rather than 3. The leaked benchmarks prior to this did suggest that the RTX 3060 Ti would perform better than the RTX 2080 and that seems to the whole shtick of the RTX 30 series. With these numbers, the performance of the graphics card seems to be very close to that of the RTX 3070.

If this performance is indeed correct then this should be a great graphics card for 1440p gaming as well as 1080p higher resolution gaming for competitive games such as Call of Duty. These are leaks so do take these numbers with a grain of salt.

With the release of these graphics cards around the corner, it is a matter of time before we get to the bottom of this and learn about the performance that they have to offer.

The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is supposed to complete with the RTX 3060 Ti but from what we know the RTX 5700 XT is going to be 50-100 USD more expensive. So it might not be worth getting if the RTX 3060 Ti can deliver RTX 2080 Ti level performance at 400 USD or less.
