Song of the Sands is a Favor in God of War: Ragnarok that can be considered a continuation of Secret of the Sands. To start this Favor, you must have unlocked The Forbidden Sands that is done after the completion of The Reckoning. Song of the Sands is automatically started as soon as you enter The Forbidden Sands.

The cave is located near the north of the area — Freya will comment that an entrance is nearby once you get there. After dropping down, break the Soundstone and grapple on the right side. Keep on progressing ahead until you come across some Hive Matter. To break it, throw your Leviathan Axe at the Purple Crystal in a way that it ricochets onto the Hive Matter.

In the next area, deal with a bunch of enemies before pushing ahead — there is a Rune that you can read in the area. Continue to grapple forward until you come across another Hive Matter. After defeating some Light Elves, destroy the Hive Matter and climb the wall all the way to the top to open a Legendary Chest. As for the Hafgufa, there are three sets of Hive Matter that you will need to destroy to free the creature — continue to move back and forth until it is done.

From there, you need to exit to the surface and get to the south side to break the Hive Cage and free the Hafgufa once and for all! It is a beautiful sight to behold.

Once completed, you will get 1,500 XP for Kratos, 375 XP for Freya, and clear The Forbidden Sands.

While in Alfheim, you can also work on completing these Favors:

  1. Secret of the Sands
  2. The Elven Sanctum
  3. Freyr’s Gift
  4. The Desert Door

This is all we have got on to complete Song of the Sands in God of War: Ragnarok. For more tips and strategies, you can visit our God of War: Ragnarok wiki page.

Secret of the Sands is a Favor in God of War: Ragnarok. You must have unlocked The Canyons after Groa’s Secret to be able to complete it. To start it, travel to The Canyons and speak with Sindri. After talking to Sindri, ride the nearby sled all the way to The Barrens.

Your objective is to enter a cave — east of The Canyons and south of The Barrens on the map. Immediately after entering the cave, you will see a lot of Hive Matter throughout the area. You can aim your Leviathan Axe at the Purple Crystals in order to clear all the attached Hive Matter in one go. You will also need to deal with a couple of Dark Elves in the area. After you are done, climb up in the next area and clear the Hive Matter from above. You will find a Red Chest and a Rune after dropping down.

From there, use the zipline to get across and grapple across the pillars to open a shortcut near the Nornir Chest — it cannot be opened right now. After clearing the Hive Matter, climb back up in order to open another door. To get the Nornir Chest, you will need to hit 3 bells in the area. Once you are done, head deeper into the cave. On your way, you will need to clear a lot of Hive Matter as well as destroy debris (ores) by detonating the Fire Vessels.

After you get to a large lantern, you will need to rotate it to destroy some more Hive Matter. Once you are done, climb up the wall to get to a trapped Hafgufa. To free the poor creature, you will need to destroy some more Hive Matter. From there, progress forward until you see a breakable roof with a Legendary Chest behind it. After picking it up, return to sled to head over to the northwest of the area to destroy a Hive Cage to free the Hafgufa. That is pretty much all!

Once completed, you will get 1,500 XP for Kratos, 375 XP for Atreus, and clear The Barrens.

While in Alfheim, you can also work on completing these Favors:

  1. Song of the Sands
  2. The Elven Sanctum
  3. Freyr’s Gift
  4. The Desert Door

This is all we have got on to complete Secret of the Sands in God of War: Ragnarok. For more tips and strategies, you can visit our God of War: Ragnarok wiki page.

A Viking Funeral is a Favor in Svartalfheim that you can start after you have completed the main story. It is a fairly short Favor that offers no rewards, etc. but you need to complete it for the Platinum. To start A Viking Funeral in God of War: Ragnarok, you need to speak to Lunda at any shop — there are no restrictions.

Before we begin, please note that the guide contains major story-related spoilers. If you have yet to complete the main story of God of War: Ragnarok, we recommend not reading any further.

After speaking to Lunda, head over to Raeb’s Tavern in Nidavellir and interact with Bork’s corpse. From there, you will need to travel to Sverd Sands. In order to get there, head over to the southern edge of Aurvangar Wetlands. There, you should be able to see a pulley bridge right next to the Mystic Gateway.

After reaching Sverd Sands, interact with Bork’s body one more time to pay your respects and send him off to Valhalla. You will unlock the ‘Funeral for a Friend’ trophy after completing the Favor.

There are a few more Favors that you can complete in Svartalfheim:

  1. In Service of Asgard
  2. The Weight of Chains
  3. Spirit of Rebellion
  4. The Lost Treasure

This is all we have got on how to complete A Viking Funeral in God of War: Ragnarok for the secret ending. For more tips and strategies, feel free to check our God of War: Ragnarok wiki page.

The Lost Treasure is a Favor in God of War: Ragnarok that you can start by speaking with the Elder Wayfarer Spirit on Dragon Beach in Svartalfheim. To access Dragon Beach, however, you must have acquired the Draupnir Spear by completing Forging Destiny. You also visit the area during Favor: Spirit of Rebellion.

After getting to the bridge on Dragon Beach, speak with the Elder Wayfarer Spirit to start the Favor. Once you have accepted that, enter the cave on the left of the statue. Clear the enemies and use a Fire Bomb to destroy the debris. Continue to delve deeper into the cave while clearing debris to come across a mini-boss named Ormstunga.

While not terribly tough, Ormstunga can be a pain because of how agile he is. Our best advice is not to over-commit — just land a couple of hits and back away. He has an unblockable leap attack which requires you to be pretty quick when it comes to dodging it. Aside from that, he will sometimes spit venom on the ground which is not too hard to avoid. Other than that, you can easily block or parry most of his attacks.

Before pushing forward, make sure to collect a Yggdrasil Rift and a Legendary Chest behind some debris. There will also be a Treasure Map on the right side.

From there, you will need to head north to Alberich Island. After defeating some enemies, collect the Nornir Chest if you want. There is also a Berserker Gravestone here but you do not have to do it right now if you are not confident enough.

Once you are done, climb up using the Draupnir Spear to speak with the Wayfarer Spirit. From there, destroy the soundstone on the left using a Sonic Arrow. Go ahead and destroy a rock in the distance using the Draupnir Spear to pull the grappling point upward. From there, swing to the other side for a Yggdrasil Rift and a Treasure Map on the right side.

There will be another rock that you can destroy with the Draupnir Spear. Once done, pull the chain and freeze the cog in the distance. Now swing across the other side, freeze the geyser, and take the lift. After defeating the enemies, continue to climb up until you get to a Legendary Chest.

Lastly, return to the Elder Wayfarer Spirit to complete The Lost Treasure.

You will get 3,000 XP for Kratos, 750 XP for Freya, Svefnthorn, Jewel of Yggdrasil, and 5,000 Hacksilver.

There are a few more Favors that you can complete in Svartalfheim:

  1. In Service of Asgard
  2. The Weight of Chains
  3. Spirit of Rebellion
  4. A Viking Funeral

This is all we have got on how to complete The Lost Treasure in God of War: Ragnarok. For more tips and strategies, feel free to check our God of War: Ragnarok wiki page.

Spirit of Rebellion is a fairly short Favor in God of War: Ragnarok. To start it, you must have completed the mission titled Forging Destiny for the Draupnir Spear. Once that is completed, speak with Durlin on the Nidavellir Beach in Svartalfheim. Durlin will ask you to retrieve the Hammer of Revolution which is located beneath a statue near Dragon Beach.

After you get to Dragon Beach in the Bay of Bounty, climb the chain to get to the bridge. Before the statue in the distance, you will see a Rune Slate on the left — interact with it. Now run toward the statue and it will remove the large hammer, revealing a red chest. Open up this chest to grab the Hammer of Revolution.

There are also some collectibles that you can get while on Dragon Beach. These include a Rune, a Yggdrasil Rift, and a Nornir Chest.

You will get 3,000 XP for Kratos, 750 XP for Freya, Whispering Slabs, Mountain Splitter, and the ‘Rebel Leader’ trophy.

There are a few more Favors that you can complete in Svartalfheim:

The Weight of Chains is a Favor in God of War: Ragnarok that automatically starts after you reach Lyngbakr Island in the Bay of Bounty, Svartalfheim. Your objective is to free the Lyngbakr that was chained years ago by Mimir.

First Fin
After you return to Lyngbakr Island, defeat the enemies and destroy the red vessel to clear the debris. Interact with the mechanism ahead and throw your Leviathan Axe at the chain to break it.

Second Fin
Now return to the previous area and you will notice a newly opened path. You need to jump across the gap and climb the chains to see a Lore Marker on the right — you can also climb the wall across the Lore Marker for a red chest and one of Kvasir’s Poems. Return to the Lore Marker and swing to the other side. From there, drop down the chain and free the second fin.

Tail
After freeing the second fin, destroy the Wretches’ Nest that appears to reveal some Fire Bombs. You need to grab a Fire Bomb and toss it at the nearby debris to clear it. Collect another Fire Bomb, jump across the gap and toss it at the docks (covered in debris) down below — Atreus will point it out.

Before returning to the boat, open the nearby gate, collect a Fire Bomb, and clear the debris in the area from where you came. Jump across to the red chest and crawl through a hole to get one of Odin’s Ravens.

Now return to your boat and go to the docks that you cleared earlier. Once you are there, head up, defeat some enemies, and interact with the mechanism there. Mimir will now ask you to slide down the rope to break the last chain — do that and do not forget to open the Legendary Chest nearby.

After breaking all three chains, return to your boat and go to Lyngbakr’s Eye to complete the Favor.

You will receive 1,000 XP for Kratos, 250 XP for Atreus, and the ‘Making Amends’ trophy.

There are a few more Favors that you can complete in Svartalfheim:

  1. In Service of Asgard
  2. Spirit of Rebellion
  3. The Lost Treasure
  4. A Viking Funeral

In Service of Asgard is a Favor in God of War: Ragnarok that you can complete after reaching Svartalfheim. To start it, you need to speak with Raeb, a bard who can be found in Nidavellir. Your objective is to disable 3 Mining Rigs found across the Bay of Bounty.

Modvitnir’s Rig
After reaching the beach, head up the platform on the right. Shoot the switch to jump across and climb the tower to loot a Legendary Chest. From there, swing across and drop down to collect a Lore Marker.

Once you are done, climb back up and keep on hitting the right switch on the crane until you are able to swing to a red chest in the distance. From there, use the chain to go up to where you will need to defeat the Bergsra Mother. Interact with the Mining Rig to shut it down.

Radsvinn’s Rig
This one is located in the middle of the Bay of Bounty. After you get there, climb the wall to find the second Mining Rig alongside a few Grims and Nightmares — deal with them however you like and then interact with the rig.

There is also a Nornir Chest, Odin’s Raven, and a Lore Scroll that you can get in the area.

Althjof’s Rig
The last Mining Rig is a little toward the northwest of the previous one. Once you are there, climb up and collect Odin’s Raven on the left side. Interact with the wheel once, use the Blades of Chaos to pull down a platform, and swing to the other side. Once you are across, destroy the barrel to clear the blockade.

From the blockade, climb up and create a shortcut back to the wheel on the left side. But instead of going down, pry open a gate on the right side, destroy another barrel, and climb the tower ahead. After dropping down, break the floor to read some runes and collect the red chest. After that, use the Blades of Chaos to raise the platform to return to the wheel.

Turn the wheel so that you are able to get to the second rooftop. Climb the chains on the left (the shortcut you created earlier) and swing across to the Mining Rig. After you have dealt with a few Draugrs and Grims, disable the last rig. Before leaving the area, make sure to collect a Lore Scroll and a Legendary Chest.

You will receive 500 XP for Kratos, 125 XP for Atreus, and Nidavellir Ore for completing the Favor.

There are a few more Favors that you can complete in Svartalfheim:

  1. The Weight of Chains
  2. Spirit of Rebellion
  3. The Lost Treasure
  4. A Viking Funeral

This is all we have got on how to complete In Service of Asgard in God of War: Ragnarok. For more tips and strategies, feel free to check our God of War: Ragnarok wiki page.

God of War players have been looking forward to an all-out brawl with Thor Odinson since he appeared at their doorstep at the end of the original game. Luckily, this brawl happens only a couple of hours into God of War: Ragnarok. Thor is an incredibly formidable foe, and given how early on you need to go through him, it can be a challenging experience, especially at harder difficulty options. In this guide, we have shared tips and strategies to help you easily beat Thor, the God of Thunder in God of War: Ragnarok.

You battle it out with Thor near the end of Surviving Fimbulwinter. After arriving at your house, you are pulled to another area for this boss fight. Like a lot of other bosses in God of War: Ragnarok, the fight has multiple phases.

In the first phase, which is just a fistfight, you must watch out for a couple of unblockable attacks — do not miss those red rings. One is his ground-pound attack which deals a lot of damage in an area. The best way to avoid it is to run away as far as possible. Other than that, he will charge at you to throw you against a wall for some damage. He can also follow it up with a 3-hit combo. To dodge this one, you should try to dodge to the side. Try to find opportunities to dish out some damage (primarily from parrying) to trigger a QTE, after which the second phase will begin.

In the second phase, Thor will start using his trusted hammer, Mjolnir, with a couple of new attacks. Most of his attacks during the second phase are ranged (unblockable), so you will need to dodge quite a lot to avoid taking any considerable damage.

In addition, he can also hurl Mjolnir in your direction and call it back to whittle away at a decent chunk of your HP. You will also notice a few pillars scattered around the area — these need to be your primary source of damage. You need to interact with these pillars to throw them at Thor to deal a good amount of damage.

In the last phase, Thor will start to rain lightning bolts in the area. You will notice red circles in the area after he slams the ground a couple of times — this is your hint to start running away to avoid getting hit by lightning bolts. Aside from this, he will retain his array of unblockable attacks from the earlier phases. Once again, keep an eye out for those red circles and keep working on his HP, primarily through parrying.

Also, do not forget to use your Spartan Fury to gain some HP and extra damage, which helps a lot. Moreover, if you can fill his ‘Stagger’ meter faster, the fight becomes much more manageable. But since you do not have a lot of HP at this point in the game, you should try to take things slowly if possible. Once you have defeated Thor Odinson, you will unlock the ‘Blood Debt’ trophy.

This is all we have on how to beat Thor in God of War: Ragnarok. For more tips and strategies, you can check out our detailed God of War: Ragnarok wiki page.

It is a universally accepted fact that fashion is the endgame. Be it SoulsBorne, Destiny, or God of War, if your fashion-game is not up to the mark, you are doing something wrong. For the uninitiated, Transmog allows you to retain the look of an armor set with the stats of another — no longer do you need to don an ugly armor set just because it has good stats. For instance, if like the stats of the Nidavellir Armor but prefer the looks of Raven Tears, I can simply copy the appearance of Raven Tears onto the Nidavellir Set without losing any stats. In this guide, we will walk you through all the steps needed to transmog any armor set in God of War: Ragnarok.

In order to Transmog in God of War: Ragnarok, you need to open up the menu and go to ‘Armor’ section. Once there, choose any piece of armor and select ‘Edit Appearance’. This will open up a new menu where you will be presented with a complete list of available armor sets. Now all that you need to do is to select the one that you like (appearance-wise) to get its look. There is a little catch, however. You cannot Transmog an armor piece until it is at Level 9 which is Max Level.

And since it requires a lot of Hacksilver as well as a bunch of other resources to get an armor set to Level 9, it will quite a while before you are able to Transmog your favorite armor. But once you have done that, you will be able to change the look of each armor piece individually to become the ultimate fashion icon across all the Nine Realms.

This is how you can easily Transmog Armor in God of War: Ragnarok. For more tips and strategies, you can check out our detailed God of War: Ragnarok wiki page.

There are 5 Shields in total in God of War: Ragnarok which you must acquire if you wish to 100% the game. None of these Shields is terribly tough to get since you will be able to craft almost all of them at the Blacksmith Shop. This also makes it very convenient to get them once you have completed the story. You will obviously need to have the required Hacksilver to get them but that is not a huge concern. Below, we have shared the locations of all the Shields that you can get in God of War: Ragnarok.

Dauntless Shield
You can acquire it from the Blacksmith Shop.

Stone Wall Shield
This one can also be unlocked from the Blacksmith Shop.

Shatterstar Shield
Another shield in God of War: Ragnarok that you can get from the Blacksmith Shop is the Shatterstar Shield.

Guardian Shield
You will automatically receive it right before ‘The Word of Fate’ quest.

Onslaught Shield
There are a couple of different ways to get the Onslaught Shield in the game. The first one is to loot it from the Legendary Chest immediately after defeating Garm in Helheim. However, in case you forgot to pick it up, it will automatically be added to the inventory of the Blacksmith Shop from where you will be able to get it for 7,500 Hacksilver.

As you might have noticed that none of these Shields in God of War: Ragnarok are missable. Since most of them are tied to the Blacksmith Shop, you can easily get them after completing the story if you just care about unlocking the ‘Phalanx’ trophy to earn the 100% completion status.

These are all the Shields that can be found in God of War: Ragnarok. You can check our complete coverage of God of War: Ragnarok by heading over to our detailed wiki page.
