Vault of Glass is back in Destiny 2 and so is Vex Mythoclast. The exotic weapon comes with a catalyst that isn’t the best thing in the world but the quest to complete it is pretty fun all-around. Also, before anyone asks, no, it isn’t possible to get the catalyst without getting the weapon first – pray to RNGesus. In this guide, we’ve detailed all there’s to know about how to get Vex Mythoclast catalyst in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 Vex Mythoclast Catalyst
In order to get it, the person needs to have Vex Mythoclast. The weapon has a chance to drop from Atheon, the final encounter in Vault of Glass. According to some reports, it does seem to have a lower drop-rate as compared to EoT. Therefore, depending on a person’s RNG it can take a couple of VoG runs or a hundred. As of right now, we don’t know whether the Master difficulty will increase the drop-rate or not. After it drops, however, the rest of the steps are simple.
To get the catalyst, the person needs to have the Vex Mythoclast equipped and run the entire VoG. Throughout the raid, the person will come across a total of five Vex plates that need the Vex Mythoclast to activate. Once activated, a bunch of Oracles will appear that need to be shot. One important thing to remember is that these Oracles must be shot in the order that they appear in – kind of like main raid encounters. The number of Oracles that appear range somewhere from three to seven – needs to be confirmed. The locations of these Vex plates are provided below:
- The first plate is to the immediate right side where the fireteam lands – forming the spire area.
- The second Vex plate appears at the secret path leading to Templar.
- The third one appears at the location where the exotic chest in the original Destiny used to be. Remember that it’s before the Gorgons encounter.
- To find the fourth one, check the right side of the jumping puzzle after Gorgon’s Labyrinth.
- As for the final Vex plate, it’s located to the left of the jumping puzzle after Gorgon’s Labyrinth.
Once all plates have been activated and their corresponding Oracles destroyed, the person with Vex Mythoclast will be able to claim the catalyst from the area before the final encounter entrance – the Whisper of the Worm portal that some peeps probably remember. A video representation of these Oracles can be found in the video, thanks to LUCKYY:
Lastly, do note that completing the catalyst requires a total of 700 eliminations – Shuro Chi encounter in LW and Thrallway encounter in the Shattered Throne make it easy. Once upgraded, it increases the Stability stat for each Overcharge stack. Since the gun is already pretty stable on an MnK, it doesn’t make much of a difference but it can be nice on a controller.
