Nvidia MX 450 dedicated graphics for entry-level laptops has now been confirmed and we now know that it will come with GDDR6 memory and PCIe 4.0 support. We recently heard that the top of the line Ampere graphics cards from Nvidia will feature GDDR6X memory so it makes sense that Nvidia is going with the older memory for the entry-level cards.
As of right now, we are not sure which architecture this graphics solution is going to use but it is more than likely that the Nvidia MX 450 is going to be powered by the Ampere architecture like the higher-end graphics cards that are going to be announced in a few days time.
The official Nvidia website mentioned the following regarding the MX 450 graphics solution:
MX450 accelerates your notebook for work and gaming. Now you can expect even faster performance in the latest and greatest integrated graphics processors for faster photo editing, video editing and gaming experiences. It is also compatible with NVIDIA Optimus technology; battery life and performance are optimally coordinated.
For high-performance gaming and creative performance, switch from GeForce MX to GeForce GTX.
Upon further inspection, it seems that there will be two versions of the MX 450 graphics card. One will come with GDDR6 memory while the other will feature GDDR5 memory. This is something that you will have to look out for when buying a laptop with this graphics solution. A table provided by Nvidia mentions the following specifications for the Nvidia MX 450:
