AMD is working on the next-generation Navi graphics cards that are going to be part of the RX 6000 series and we got a tease of the upcoming design. It seems that AMD is going to be ditching the blower-style design in favor of a dual fan reference design.
I would say that it is about time. Nvidia has been doing this for a while now and it is about time that AMD starting making dual-fan cards rather than relying on a blower-style design which is not ideal for cooling. You can check out a sneak peek of the design of the card below:
As the graphics card is still in development, there is little that we know about it. It is expected that it is going to be based on RDNA2 like the Xbox Series X. It should also feature the 7nm+ process which means that it will be much more efficient and powerful as compared to the current cards that we have on the market.
It is interesting to see that the AMD Navi RX 6000 is branded “AMD” and not “Radeon”. I do not know what the fans are going to think about this but my opinion is that this is a step in the right direction. I do not know if the logo is going to have RGB or if it is going to light up at all but that is something that I would like to see for sure.
We know that this is a reference design and it is more than likely that the card that we see here is the upcoming Radeon RX 6900XT or RX 6800 XT. This cannot be an entry-level card judging from the power connector section. From the looks of things, it seems that this AMD Navi RX 6000 series card is going to have dual 6-pin connectors but do not take my word for it.
AMD has already confirmed that the company is not going to make blower-style cards in the future and this is a good move for sure. AIB partners are free to use blow-style designs but AMD is going to focus on dual/tri-axial designs.
