Baldur’s Gate 3 Companions Locations Guide

Companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 are recruitable NPCs to help you on your travels. Each companion in the game is unique – be it background, abilities, equipment, skills, etc. Since every single companion contributes something different to your party, it’s a good idea to find them all. In this guide, we’ve shared the locations of all the companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 and their recruitment conditions.

Remember that you can’t just walk up to companions and start recruiting them. Companions in Baldur’s Gate have different recruitment conditions that must be met. Moreover, companions will approve or disapprove of your decisions which is something you need to consider if you wish to romance them later down the road.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Companions Locations

Before we start, do note that the game is still in Early Access. We can expect more companions to be added or some changes to the existing ones when the final version launches.

Astarion – High Elf, Rogue
During the 1st chapter, continue to the beach area where you’ll come across the Nautiloid wreck. You need to head past it to go up a hill and find Astarion stranded there.

Shadowheart – High Half-Elf, Cleric (Trickery)
She’s also found during the 1st chapter. As soon as you’re done with the Prologue, continue straight to arrive at the Overgrown Ruins and you’ll find her standing there.

Gale – Human, Wizard
During the 1st act, you’ll arrive at the Roadside Cliffs. Once you’re there, proceed to the area directly above the Nautilus wreck to find Gale standing there.

Lae’zel – Githyanki, Fighter
Lae’zel will automatically join your party during the game’s Prologue and leave once it’s over. To recruit her once more, you’ll need to free her from a prison in the Cathedral Ruins.

Wyll – Human, Warlock (The Fiend)
You’ll find Wyll during the ‘Removing the Parasite’ quest. After you’re done with the battle against goblins, head over to the gate to recruit him. You’ll find him inside a camp, training someone.

These are all the locations where you can find companions in Baldur’s Gate. To learn more about the game, you can check out our detailed Baldur’s Gate wiki guides.
