The Cycle Frontier D3D Device Lost Fix, In-game Crash, EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, Fatal Error, Unhandled Exception, Crash At Launch Fix

The Cycle Frontier is a free-to-play title released for PC and has received a lukewarm reception from players and critics alike. While the game isn’t demanding in terms of hardware, PC players are experiencing errors and issues with The Cycle Frontier like D3d Device lost, in-game crash, fatal error, unhandled exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, crash at launch, and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

The Cycle Frontier Crash, Fatal Error, And Fixes

The Cycle Frontier is developed and published by YAGER, the studio that developed Spec Ops The Line. It’s a first-person PvPvE survival shooter set on an alien planet. The concept is unique albeit with a bit of flawed execution.

However, PC players are experiencing errors and issues with The Cycle Frontier like D3d Device lost, in-game crash, fatal error, unhandled exception: XCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, crash at launch, and more. The following are the errors that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

D3D Device Lost Fix

PC players are reporting that they are unable to play The Cycle Frontier due to the following D3D Device Lost errors along with possible fixes.

Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0005 – ‘REMOVED’
Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 – ‘HUNG’)

Right-click The Cycle Frontier in Steam > Manage > Browse local files. A new window will open with the game files. Locate the game’s executable and right-click it > properties > Compatibility tab > check “Disable Fullscreen Optimizations” and hit apply. This will fix the Unreal Engine exiting due to D3D device lost error.

Another reason behind the error could be the DirectX 12. Force the game to use DX11 and Unreal Engine exiting due to D3D device lost error will be fixed. To do that, right-click The Cycle Frontier in Steam > Properties > type -dx11 under Launch options and press OK. This will force the game to use DirectX 11 and won’t crash anymore.

Your GPU is a possibility why The Cycle Frontier is crashing with the Unreal Engine exiting due to D3D device lost error. The GPU is either overclocked or not handling the game’s load really well.

If your GPU is overclocked, then revert it to its default GPU clock even if it’s factory overclocked. In case the GPU isn’t overclocked, then try lowering the graphics settings.

Alternatively, players can limit the game’s max FPS to fix the Unreal Engine exiting due to D3D device lost error. Open Nvidia Control Panel > manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select The Cycle Frontier. Enable Max FPS Limit and set a value for it. As a general rule, if your current target is unlocked FPS, then cap the game to 60 FPS. If your current target is 60 FPS then cap the game to 30 FPS. Doing this reduces CPU and GPU load and will fix The Cycle Frontier Unreal Engine exiting due to D3D device lost error.

Game Not Starting, Crash At Launch Fix

A lot of The Cycle Frontier PC players are experiencing the game not launching or crashing at startup issue and here is how to fix it. Before we start with the fixes, make sure you are using a 64-Bit operating system as the game doesn’t support 32-Bit OS.

If you are using a 64-Bit Windows 7 OS and The Cycle Frontier is not launching or crashing at launch with a Fatal error, then the issue is the DirectX. The game supports both DX11 and DX12. However, Win7 only supports DX11 and The Cycle Frontier might be using DX12 by default. To fix this issue, players just have to force the game to use DX11. Right-click The Cycle Frontier in Steam > Properties > type -dx11 under Launch options and press OK. Launch The Cycle Frontier and it should work without crashing.

If The Cycle Frontier is still not working on Windows 7, then go to My Documents and find The Cycle Frontier’s config file in one of the folders. Open the config file and change DX12 from true to False and save the changes. Launch The Cycle Frontier and it won’t have any problems.

Your anti-virus is probably blocking the game’s executable or other important game files and causing the crash at launch issue with The Cycle Frontier. Either disable real-time protection or exclude the game folder from it, I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files, launch The Cycle Frontier, and won’t crash at launch.

If the above fixes didn’t work, then right-click The Cycle Frontier in Steam > manage > Browse local files. A new window will open with the game’s files. Locate The Cycle Frontier’s executable and launch the game through it. Chances are you’ll get an error similar to vcruntime140_1.dll or MSVCP140.dll Was Not Found. To fix this error, install/repair the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables both x64 and x86 versions. This will fix The Cycle Frontier crash at launch issue.

EXCEPTION ACCESS VIOLATION Fix

The Cycle Frontier PC players are reporting that they are unable to start the game due to Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION 0x0000000000000000 error and here is how to fix it.

One reason behind the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error is a conflict with a driver of another peripheral attached to your PC. One user reported that uninstalling HTC Vive software fixed the Unhandled exception error for The Cycle Frontier. So if you are using such a peripheral, try uninstalling its driver or unplugging the peripheral itself to fix the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error.

In case the error persists, open the command prompt and run it as administrator. Type “sfc /scannow” and press enter. Let the scan complete and after that, this will fix the error will be fixed.

Fatal Error Fix

Some PC players are reporting that they are experiencing Fatal error while trying to play The Cycle Frontier and here is how to fix it. One reason behind the Fatal Error crash in The Cycle Frontier is the DirectX 12. Since the game supports both DX11 and 12, chances are for some players the game will use DX12 by default. To fix the Fatal error, players need to make sure the game is using DirectX 11 instead of 12. Check under “Crash At Launch fix” above to see how you can force the game to use DirectX 11 and fix the Fatal Error.

Crash Fix

The Cycle Frontier PC players are reporting that the game is crashing while playing and here is how to fix it. One reason behind the Cycle Frontier in-game crash is the use of third-party tools and software like MSI Afterburner, RGb software, software for a peripheral like HOTAS or HTC Vive, and more. Disable any third-party tool or software you have installed and the game won’t crash.

Also, using in-game overlays like Steam in-game overlay or GeForce Experience overlay can cause in-game crashes. Disable these in-game overlays and the Cycle Frontier will stop crashing while playing.

If the game keeps crashing while playing, check the fixes under “D3D Device Lost Fix” above as they’ll likely fix The Cycle Frontier in-game crash.

That is all for our The Cycle Frontier fixes for errors and issues like D#D Device Lost, Unhandled exception, Fatal Error, EXCEPTION ACCESS VIOLATION, in-game crash, and more. The Quarry Crash Fix, LowLevelFatalError, Low FPS, Stuttering, Out-Of- Sync Audio, Fatal Error Fix

The Quarry is has launched for PC and consoles. However, despite being a well-optimized game, PC players are experiencing errors and issues with The Quarry like in-game crash, LowLevelFatalError, desync or out-of-sync audio, Fatal Error, low FPS, stuttering, and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

The Quarry Fatal Error, Crash, And Fixes

The Quarry is the latest game from developer Supermassive Games and follows the same gameplay structure as Until Dawn, Men of Medan, and their subsequent titles. Furthermore, it’s a spiritual successor to Until Dawn.

The game is available on PC and consoles and it’s quite scalable on a number of PC configurations. Despite having reasonable PC system requirements, PC players are experiencing errors and issues with The Quarry like in-game crash, LowLevelFatalError, desync or out-of-sync audio, Fatal Error, low FPS, stuttering, and more. The following are the errors that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

LowLevelFatalError, Fatal Error Fix

The Quarry PC players are experiencing LowLevelFatalError or Fatal Error and are unable to play the game and here is how to fix it. First, update your GPU drivers if you haven’t already because an outdated driver can cause the LowLevelFatalError.

One reason behind the LowLevelFatalError could be a corrupt Windows file. open Command Prompt (CMD) and run it as administrator. Type “sfc /scannow”, press enter, and let the scan complete. If there are any corrupt files, the scan will fix it itself and this will fix The Quarry LowLevelFatalError.

If you are getting LowLevelFatalError at launch and you are playing on a system with both dedicated and integrated GPU, the game isn’t switching to the dedicated GPU which is causing the LowLevelFatalError launching The Quarry. To fix this, players need to force the game to use the dedicated GPU.

For NVidia GPUs, open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game > select “High-performance Nvidia processor” under the preferred graphics option.

AMD GPU users, open Radeon Settings > Preferences > Additional Settings > Power > Switchable Graphics Application Settings. Select the game and select the “High-Performance profile” to the game under Graphics Settings. Doing this will fix the LowLevelFatalError.

Your GPU is another reason why The Quarry Fatal Error is occurring. The GPU is probably overclocked either factory or manually done by you. Revert the GPU to its base GPU clock in both cases and the Fatal Error will be fixed.

Alternatively, you can limit the game’s max FPS to fix the error. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program settings > select The Quarry. Enable Max FPS Limit and set the value for it. As a general rule, cap the game to 30 FPS if your current target is 60 FPS. If your current target is unlocked FPS, then cap the game to 60 FPS. Doing this reduces the GPU and CPU load and fixes The Quarry LowLevelFatalError or Fatal Error.

Crash Fix

The Quarry PC players are experiencing in-game crashes and here is how to fix it. One reason behind these crashes is the use of third-party tools and software like MSI Afterburner, RGB software, or more. Make sure to disable all third-party software that runs in the background to fix the in-game crash issue. Also, enabling in-game overlays can also cause The Quarry to crash. Disable in-game overlays like Steam overlay and GeForce Experience overlay and the game won’t crash.

Your GPU is another possibility why The Quarry is crashing. Check under “Fatal Error Fix” above to see how you can fix it.

Desync Audio Fix

The Quarry PC players are reporting that the game’s audio is out of sync and here is how to fix it. Some players have reported that moving the game to an SSD fixes the out-of-sync audio issue.

If you don’t have an SSD, then this workaround might work. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select The Quarry > select “Fast” for the Vertical Sync option and hit apply. Launch The Quarry and the audio desync issue will be fixed.

Stuttering, Low FPS Fix

While The Quarry is an optimized title, there are few spots in the game that cause FPS to drop or stutter. Here is how to fix stuttering and low FPS in The Quarry.

First, make sure you have installed the latest GPU drivers and there is no background process using CPU or GPU.

Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select The Quarry and make the following changes.

Anti-aliasing-Gamma Correction – Off
Antialiasing Mode – Application Controlled
Antialiasing Transparency – Off
CUDA GPUs – All
Low Latency Mode – Ultra
Power Management – Prefer Maximum Performance
Shader Cache – On only if you are using an HDD. Don’t need to enable it for an SSD.
Texture filtering – Quality – High Performance
Threaded Optimization – Off
Triple Buffering – Off

Apply these settings and players should see improvement in the game’s FPS and the stuttering will be fixed.

That is all for our The Quarry fixes for errors and issues like in-game crash, out-of-sync audio, LowLevelFatalError, low FPS, stuttering, and more. If you are facing errors and issues with other PC games or your PC then also see our hub for commonly occurring PC errors and their fixes.

Arma Reforger Engine Initialization Error Fix, Crash At Startup, GPU Does Not Support Feature Level 12_0, Game Not Starting Fix

Arma is a popular tactical shooting franchise that features realistic gunplay. Arma Reforger is the latest edition to the franchise released as Steam Early Access, at the time of writing. Since the game is still in development, there are bound to be errors and issues with it. PC players are reporting that they are experiencing errors and issues with Arma Reforger like crash at startup, GPU Does Not Support Feature Level 12_0, and Engine Initialization Error. Here I have compiled a list of errors and issues that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

Arma Reforger Crash, Engine Initialization Error, And Fixes

Arma Reforger is the latest entry in the Arma franchise. The game features familiar locations from Operation Flashpoint. However, the game saw mixed reception from players which can be attributed to the game’s launch as a Steam Early Access title, at the time of writing.

Also, PC players are errors and issues with Arma Reforger like crash at startup, GPU Does Not Support Feature Level 12_0, and Engine Initialization Error. The following are the errors and issues that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

Engine Initialization Error Fix

Arma Reforger PC players are experiencing the Engine Initialization Error and are unable to play the game. Some players have reported that this error is tied to the resolution. According to players, if Windows has selected a lower resolution than your display’s native resolution, this error will pop up. Select the proper resolution in the display settings and the Arma Reforger Engine Initialization Error will be fixed.

Game Not Starting, Crash At Startup Fix

PC players are reporting that Arma Reforger is crashing at startup or not launching at all and here is how to fix it. First, make sure you are using Windows 10 64-Bit as the game doesn’t support any other operating system.

Also, the game requires a DX12-supported GPU to play and if you don’t have a GPU that doesn’t support DX12, that is why the game is not starting. For those of you who have DirectX 12 supported GPU and still facing the crash at launch or not starting issue, Arma Reforger requires DX12 feature level 12.1 which the old GPUs don’t support.

That is why the game isn’t launching on your PC. You might be able to force Arma Reforger to use DX11 but, this workaround might not work. Right-click Arma Reforger in Steam library > properties > type -dx11 and press OK.

Your anti-virus software might be blocking Arma Reforger’s executable and causing the crash at launch or not starting issue. Either disable real-time protection or exclude the game folder from the anti-virus, I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files, launch Arma Reforger, and it won’t crash at startup.

GPU Does Not Support Feature Level 12_0 Fix

A lot of PC players with old GPU supporting DX12 are reporting that they are getting the Does Not Support Feature Level 12_0 error when they launch Arma Reforger. The issue is that while your GPU supports DX12 that game requires Feature Level 12.1 which isn’t supported by the old GPU and causing the error.

However, the GPU Does Not Support Feature Level 12_0 error can also occur on systems that have both iGPU and dedicated GPU and Arma Reforger isn’t switching to the dedicated GPU. In this case, players just have to force Arma Reforger to use the dedicated Nvidia/AMD GPU.

For those with AMD GPUs, open Radeon Settings > Preferences > Additional Settings > Power > Switchable Graphics Application Settings. Select the game and select the “High-Performance profile” to the game under Graphics Settings.

If you have an Nvidia GPU, open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game > select “High-performance Nvidia processor” under the preferred graphics option. Apply the changes.

That is all for our Arma Reforger fixes for errors and issues like crash at launch, Engine Initialization Error, and GPU Does Not Support Feature Level 12_0. If you are facing errors and issues with other PC games or your PC then also see our hub for commonly occurring PC errors and their fixes.

Also, if you don’t want to rename the file or are unable to, you can manually download the missing dll file and place it in C:\Windows\System32. However, I don’t recommend it as it can potentially put your system at risk.

Advapi32.dll Not Found Fix

State Of Decay 2 players are reporting that they are experiencing the Advapi32.dll Not Found error when they launch the game. To fix this error, open CMD(Command Prompt) and run it as an administrator. Type sfc /scannow and press enter. Let it scan and repair any corrupt file found including Advapi32.dll. Once the scan is complete, launch State Of Decay 2 and you won’t get the Advapi32.dll not found error.

If the error persists, then try updating your operating system as it’ll fix the error too.

Game Not Starting, Crash At Startup Fix

State Of Decay 2 PC players are experiencing crash at launch issue or the game not starting at all issue and here is how to fix it. Your anti-virus is probably blocking the game’s executable as false malware and causing the crash or game not launching issue. To fix it, either disable real-time protection or exclude the game folder from the anti-virus, I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files and the issue will be fixed.

In case State Of Decay 2 is still crashing at launch, right-click the game in Steam > Manage > browse local files. A new window will open with the game files. Find the game’s executable and launch the game through it. You might get an error similar to vcruntime140_1.dll missing or MSVCP140.dll was not found. Fix it by installing the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables both x64 and x86 versions.

How To Fix V Rising Crash On PC

PC video games often experience in-game crashes or crash at startup isssues and in a Steam Early Access title, crashes are often more prevalent. V Rising is a Steam Early Access game, at the time of writing, and is facing crashes. Here is how to fix V Rising in-game crash and crash at startup issues.

V Rising Crash Fix

V Rising PC players are reporting in-game crash and crash at startup issues. Some are also facing Failed to initialize steamworks or steamInitializationFailed error. The following are the fixes and workarounds for these errors.

Crash Fix

V Rising PC players are experiencing the in-game crash issue and here is how to fix it. One particular reason why the game is crashing could be your GPU driver. Update your GPU driver and if it is updated, reset Nvidia Control Panel settings or AMD settings, depending on which GPU you are using. This will fix the in-game crash issue.

Using third-party software in the background like MSI Afterburner, any RGB Software, or more can cause the game to crash. Disable any such tool you are using in the background and the issue will be fixed. Also, using in-game overlays like Steam in-game overlay or GeForce Experience overlay can also cause in-game crashes. Disable them as well to fix the issue.

Your GPU is also a possibility why V Rising is crashing. Given the game is in Early Access, at the time of writing, optimization work isn’t complete and V Rising could be putting a lot of load on your GPU and causing the in-game crash.

Try lowering graphics settings to fix the issue. If that doesn’t work, try limiting the game’s max FPS. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select V Rising. Scroll down and enable Max FPS Limit and set a value for it. As a general rule, cap the game to 30 FPS if your current target is 60 FPS. If your current target is unlocked FPS, cap the game to 60 FPS. Doing this reduces the CPU and GPU load and will fix the V Rising in-game crash.

Game Not Starting, Crash At Startup Fix

Some PC players are experiencing crash at launch issue with V Rising and here is how to fix it. First, make sure you are using Windows 10 64-bit as the game doesn’t support any other OS it 32-bit operating system. Also, V Rising doesn’t support Proton too, at the time of writing, which is why the game isn’t launching.

One user has reported that completing the following steps fixes the crash at startup issue with the game.

  • Delete the game
  • Go to the Steam folder and navigate to steam library\steamapps\common and delete VRising folder
  • Navigate to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp and delete the VRising folder
  • Navigate to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow and delete Stunlock Studios folder
  • Restart your PC and install the game again.

Your anti-virus is another possibility behind the game not starting or crash at launch issue. The anti-virus could be blocking the game executable and causing the crash. Either disable real-time protection or exclude the game folder from it, I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files in Steam and V Rising will launch without any problems.

Stellaris Crash Fix, BootStrapper Error, Controller Not Working, Game Crashing After Changing Video Settings, Crash At Startup Fix

Stellaris is a strategy game set in space and it’s quite popular among PC Players. The game had been out for a while but still, PC players are experiencing errors and issues with Stellaris like in-game crash, controller not working, BootStrapper, crash at startup, game not working after changing video settings, and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

Stellaris Crash, BootStrapper, And Fixes

Stellaris is a space strategy game released in 2016 and has been going strong with the developers supporting the game with new content. With the game being out for years, most of the errors and issues have been ironed out. But still, PC players are experiencing errors and issues with Stellaris like in-game crash, controller not working, BootStrapper, crash at startup, game not working after changing video settings, and more. The following are the errors and issues that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.

Crash Fix

PC players are reporting that Stellaris is crashing in-game and here is how to fix it. There are multiple reasons why the game is crashing and one of them is the use of third-party tools and software like MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision, RGB Software, Discord, or more. Disable any third-party tools you are using with the game and it’ll stop crashing.

Also, in-game overlays like Steam in-game overlay or GeForce Experience overlay can cause Stellaris to crash while playing. Disable any in-game overlay that is enabled and the issue will be fixed.

Another reason behind the Stellaris crash issue is the use of controller. Diable or remove the controller and the game will stop crashing.

Stellaris supports DirectX 9, 11, and 12 and there is a possibility that your current choice of DirectX is causing it to crash. I suggest you switch your DirectX and see if that fixes the Stellaris in-game crash. In case you aren’t able to change DirectX in-game, then right-click Stellaris in Steam and select properties. Under Launch Options type one of the following commands depending on which DirectX version your want to force.

Type -dx11 to force DirectX 11
Type -dx12 to force DirectX 12

Press Ok and launch Stellaris and it won’t crash while playing anymore.

Another reason behind the Stellaris in-game crash could be your integerated GPU. If you are playing on a system with both dedicated and integerated GPU, chances are the game isn’t swithing is running on the iGPU. To fix it, players just need to make sure Stellaris uses the dedicated GPU and the issue will be fixed.

Nvidia GPU users, open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game > select “High-performance Nvidia processor” under preferred graphics option. Apply the changes.

AMD GPU users need to open Radeon Settings > Preferences > Additional Settings > Power > Switchable Graphics Application Settings. Select the game and select the “High-Performance profile” to the game under Graphics Settings.

These changes will make sure Stellaris uses the dedicated GPU and the game won’t crash while playing.

Game Not Starting, Crash At Startup Fix

Stellaris PC players are experiencing crash at launch or game not starting at all issue with the game and here is how to fix it. Before we start with the fixes, make sure you are using at least Windows 7 SP1 64-Bit. Stellaris doesn’t support a 32-Bit operating system so if you are using a 32-Bit OS, upgrade to the 64-Bit operating system and the game will work as intended.

Your anti-virus software is a possibility behind the Stellaris crash at launch or not launching issue. The anti-virus might have blocked the game’s executable or important file which is causing the crash. Players can fix this by either disabling real-time protection in the anti-virus or excluding the game folder from it, I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files in Steam, launch Stellaris, and it won’t crash at startup.

If the above fix didn’t work, right-click Stellaris in Steam > manage > Browse local files. A new window will open containing Stellaris’ game files. Launch the game directly from the executable and you’ll likely get an error similar to vcruntime140_1.dll missing or MSVCP140.dll was not found. Fix it by installing the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables both x64 and x86 versions.

Game Crashing After Changing Graphics Settings Fix

Some Stellaris PC players are reporting that the game isn’t working after changing video setting. To fix this, go to Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\settings.txt. Open settings.txt in a notepad and revert the changes made. This will fix the issue and Stellaris will start woking again.

In case you don’t know what to do or change, just delete the settings.ext file and launch Stellaris. This will force the game to generate another settings.txt file with default video settings and the issue will be resolved.

Controller Not Working Fix

PC players are reporting that their controllers aren’t working with Stellaris at all. Turns out developers have disabled controller/gamepads on pirpose as they are causing performance issues. However, players can force Stellaris to use a controller. Right-click Stellaris > properites > type -gamepad under Launch options and press OK. This will force the game to enable gamepad support and players will be able to play Stellaris using their controller.

BootStrapper Error Fix

Stellaris PC players are experiencing the BootStrapper error which is quite common among Paradox Interactive games and here is how to fix it. First, try giving Steam admin rights. Right-click Steam executable > Properties > Compatibility tab > check “Run This program as administrator” and hit apply.

If the error persists, close Steam and open Windows “Apps and features” utility and delete Paradox Launcher. After that, go to the following paths and delete these folders to fix the Stellaris BootStrapper error.

C:/users/’your username’/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
C:/users/’your username’/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
C:/users/’your username’/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
