Remnant From The Ashes PC Tweaks- How To Get 1080p/60 FPS, Disable VOIP, Performance Boost

Remnant From The Ashes has launched for PC and consoles. While not much of the game can be tweaked on consoles, PC is a very different story. The following are some tweaks for Remnant From The Ashes PC version to get you to that 1080p/60 FPS experience.

How To Get 60 FPS In Remnant From The Ashes

Remnant From The Ashes has it’s fair share of errors and issues, see our errors and fixes guide. However, not all have a high-end system to play a game at 60 FPS at Ultra settings. In my Remnant From The Ashes PC Tweaks guide, I will take you step by step on how you can boost performance and ensure a 1080p/60 FPS experience.

Boost Performance

With so many PC configurations out there, there are bound to be performance issues for some even if the game is optimized. The Following steps will potentially boost Remnant From The Ashes PC performance.

Make sure you are using the latest GPU drivers and that no background process is using too much of your CPU, GPU, or HDD. End the process if it’s using as it’ll cause FPS drops.

First, launch the game turn-off in-game v.sync and then close the game. Then open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select Remnant From The Ashes from the list and make the following changes which at least should eliminate stuttering.

Anti-aliasing-FXAA – “Off”
Anti-aliasing-Gamma Correction – “Off”
Anti-aliasing Mode – “Application Controlled”
Anti-aliasing-Transparency – “Off”
CUDA GPUs – “All”
Low Latency Mode – depends on the player, it basically reduces input latency
Max Frame rate – Enable it if you intend to limit FPS. Also, limiting the FPS will reduce GPU Load.
Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) – “Off”
OpenGL Rendering GPU – “Auto”
Set Power Management to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
Shader Cache – “On” only if you are using an HDD. Don’t need to enable it for an SSD.
Set Texture filtering – Quality to “High Performance”
Triple Buffering – “Off”
Set Vertical Syn to “On”
Virtual Reality Pre-Rendered Frames – “Use 3D Application Settings”.

If you own at least a GTX 10 series GPU with a decent enough CPU then Open Nvidia Control panel > Manage 3D Settings> Program Settings. Select the game from the list and set Vertical Sync to “Fast”.

Start the game and disable Vertical sync and Nvidia’s setting will take over. This will give an FPS boost to Remnant From The Ashes on PC if you have moderate enough GPU and CPU.

How To Disable VOIP/Voice Chat

Remnant From The Ashes has voice chat enabled by default and players can’t disable it from the menu. Here is a workaround to disable it.

Go to “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Remnant\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor” and open Engine.ini in notepad. Just add the following at the bottom and save it as this will disable the VOIP or voice chat in-game.

[Voice]
bEnabled=False
[OnlineSubsystem]
bHasVoiceEnabled=False

How To Get 1080p/60 FPS

Remnant From The Ashes isn’t one of those games that are designed for 60 FPS gameplay experience. However, playing the game at 60 FPS is definitely a good thing.

Here I will discuss each and every graphical setting in the game and will provide you with optimal settings for a 1080p/60 FPS experience on a mid-range PC. Note that by mid-range I mean, Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB paired with an Intel Core i5 CPU and 8GB of RAM. By low-end I mean Nvidia GTX 1050 with Core i3 7th-gen or older.

Shadow Distance
This Remnant From The Ashes graphical setting determines shadow quality for faraway objects. Obviously, this graphical setting demands a lot of GPU VRAM which the GTX 1060 6GB is able to provide.

However, if you do face performance issue then this setting should be your first choice to turn down. Note that for low-end systems, this setting might need to be turned down entirely.

Best Image Quality: 100
Performance: 50
Recommended: 70

Shadow Quality
This one determines the overall quality of shadows in Remnant From The Ashes. This is a taxing graphical setting and even more so for a low-end PC.

While it’s not confirmed, at the time of writing, but it’s likely that ambient occlusion setting is tied to Shadow Quality.

Best Image Quality: Ultra
Performance: Medium
Recommended: High

Anti-Aliasing
Antialiasing the graphical setting that removes the aliasing or jagged edges in the game and makes the image much more presentable. However, this requires significant computational power.

If you are using a GTX 1060 with a Core i3 CPU 7th-gen or older, then you might be bottlenecking your GPU. In that case, keep the anti-lasing on medium and increase it if you see there is no drop in performance.

Best Image Quality: Ultra
Performance: Medium
Recommended: Ultra

View Distance
This graphical setting in remnant From The Ashes determines the level of texture quality for faraway objects. This setting takes a lot of VRAM and can drop performance on a low-end system. For a low-end system, keep this setting at medium or low.

Best Image Quality: Ultra
Performance: Medium
Recommended: Ultra

Texture Quality
This setting is self-explanatory as it controls the quality of textures. As you increase this setting, it will demand more VRAM which a low-end system might not be able to provide so keep it at medium or High for low-end systems.

Best Image Quality: Ultra
Performance: High
Recommended: Ultra

Post Processing
This graphical setting determines effects like depth of field, chromatic aberration, and bloom. It’s up to you if you like playing the game with effects like Depth of field and chromatic aberration.

Best Image Quality: Ultra
Performance: High
Recommended: High

Effects
This graphical setting determines the quality of particle effects. In some areas of the game, this setting being on Ultra can have an impact on performance.

Best Image Quality: Ultra
Performance: High
Recommended: High

Foliage Quality
Foliage Quality determines the quality of trees, grass, and other plants in-game. Other than quality, it also dictates if the plants will react to player movements.

Best Image Quality: Ultra
Performance: High
Recommended: Ultra

That is all for our Remnant From The Ashes PC Tweaks. Now that you understand how each of the Remnant From The Ashes graphical settings work, you’ll be able to pick the right settings for your 1080p/60 FPS experience.

Remnant From The Ashes Fatal Error Fix, Black Screen, Disable Voice Chat, X3DAudio1_7.dll Not Found Fix

Remnant From The Ashes has launched for PC and consoles. However, Remnant From The Ashes PC version is facing errors and issues like Fatal Error, can’t disable VOIP or voice chat, X3DAudio1_7.dll was not found and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors and fixes for Remnant From The Ashes so that you can play the game without any problems.

Remnant: From The Ashes Crash, Black Screen And Fixes

Remnant: From The Ashes is the latest title from Gunfire Games, the developer behind Darksiders 3. It’s a co-op shooter with a procedurally generated world.

The PC version of the game is facing issues and errors like black screen, Fatal Error and more. The following are the errors and issues that players are experiencing along with their possible fixes and workarounds.

Disable VOIP/Voice Chat

Remnant From The Ashes has voice chat enabled by default and there is no way in the menu to disable it. Here is a quick fix to disable the VOIP or voice chat in the game.

Go to “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Remnant\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor” and open Engine.ini in notepad. Just add the following at the bottom and save it.

[Voice]
bEnabled=False

[OnlineSubsystem]
bHasVoiceEnabled=False

This will disable the voice chat in the game.

Unknown Error Fix

Players are reporting that when they check multiplayer access they get an Unknown Error. This Remnant From The Ashes error might be occurring due to your outer base ad-blocker or ad-blocker in general. Just add “api.epicgames.dev” to the whitelist and the Unknown Error will be fixed.

Crash At Launch Fix

Game crashing at launch is another error that Remnant From The Ashes players are experiencing. There are multiple reasons why the game might be crashing at launch and here are the fixes.

If the game is not launching or crashing at startup after the recent update on Steam, then the issue might be Epic Games client. Install the Epic Games client on your PC and Remnant From The Ashes will stop crashing at launch.

In case the players are experiencing Unreal crash at startup, go to your Steam Library and right-click Remnant From The Ashes > Properties > click “Set launch options” > type “-nocrashdialog” and press ok. This will fix the crash at the launch issue with the game.

Another reason for Remnant From The Ashes to crash at startup it might be your anti-virus software or Windows Defender detecting the game’s exe file as a trojan and blocking it. To fix this, you can either disable the anti-virus software or make an exception for the game’s exe file in your anti-virus software. After that, verify the game files and the issue will be fixed.

If the game is still crashing then Nvidia users can turn on the debug mode. Open Nvidia control panel > help > debug mode then select manage 3D settings> program settings> Remnant From The Ashes and set “Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”.

Or you can just enable the debug mode and set 3D settings to performance. Either way, crashing at launch issue for the game should be fixed.

Another reason for the game to crash could be the GPU driver itself. Try a different driver version and the issue will be resolved.

System Error, X3DAudio1_7.dll Was Not Found Fix

Players are reporting that when they try to play Remnant From The Ashes they get the following error on PC.

Error box name: Remnant-win64-shipping.exe – System Error
Error box contents: The code execution cannot proceed because X3DAudio1_7.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

One of the reasons for the missing X3DAudio1_7.dll could b that you haven’t updated your OS. Update your Windows OS and if the error still persists then install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 and 64-bit version Visual C++ Redistributable.

You can also just search the file on the internet and download it but it’s not recommended as it may put your system at risk.

Black Screen Fix

Getting a black screen at launch is a common issue in PC games. Remnant From The Ashes players are reporting that when they start the game they only get a black screen while the audio is playing in the background.

To fix this problem, start the game and when the black screen appears, press “Alt + Enter”. The game will go into windowed mode and will start to display.

You just have to go to the video settings and change the resolution to your display’s native resolution and you’ll be able to play Remnant From The Ashes in fullscreen.

D3D Device Lost, Fatal Error Fix

Players are reporting that while playing Remnant From The Ashes the game crashes randomly and they get the following error.

Assertion failed: [File:Unknown] [Line: 198] Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 -‘HUNG’)

Or

LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 198]
Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 – ‘HUNG’)

One reason for this could be that you are using third-party monitoring software like GeForce Experience which is installed with the Driver. Just disable it and you won’t see the error again. If you are using other third-party software like MSI Afterburner then it might be causing the game to crash.

If the crashes and the error still persist then the issue might be the GPU. If you have overclocked your GPU or its factory overclocked then just revert the GPU back to its default clock speeds using third-party software like MSI Afterburner. If the GPU isn’t overclocked then reducing the clock speed by 100 MHz might fix the problem.

If you don’t want to mess with the GPU clock then locking the game’s FPS will fix the issue. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game.

Turn on the “Max FPS limit” and then set the value for the max FPS the game can be rendered at. This is a bit of trial and error to find at which FPS the error will be fixed.

If you are limiting the FPS below 60 then I recommend locking the FPS at 30 due to frame pacing. Locking the FPS will reduce the GPU load and will fix the Remnant From The Ashes D3D Device Lost error and Fatal Error.

Low FPS, Stuttering, Performance Fix

Here are a few things that will help you eliminate stuttering from the game and boost FPS.

First, make sure you are using the latest GPU driver and there is no background process running that is using too much of your CPU, GPU, or HDD.

Launch the game and turn off in-game v.sync and then close the game. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game from the list and if it isn’t there then add it. Make the following changes.

Set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
set “Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”
Set “Vertical Sync” to “On”

This will eliminate stuttering and potentially boost FPS. Also, there is another thing that you can change here to boost FPS if you have the GPU and CPU to handle it. Just set Vertical Sync to “Fast” which can potentially boost the game’s FPS.

That is all for our Remnant From The Ashes fixes for errors like the crash at launch, Fatal Error, and more. I will update it with more fixes as I find them. If you are facing errors and issues with other PC games or your PC then also see our hub for commonly occurring PC errors and their fixes.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall PC Errors – Missing Bootstrapper-v2.exe Fix, Crash On Startup, dowser.exe Not Found

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is available on PC and consoles. While the console versions are running fine but, Age of Wonders: Planetfall PC is facing errors and issues like dowser.exe not found, crash on startup, AowPf_Debug.exe-system error and more.

Here I have compiled fixes and workaround to all of the errors and issues being faced by PC players so that they can play the game without any hindrance.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall PC Errors – Black Screen, Crash and Fixes

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a 4X turn-based strategy game and the fifth installment in the franchise. The PC version of any game is bound to have issues and Age of Wonders: Planetfall does have some errors of its own.

Players are reporting issues like missing DLL files, black screen, Missing Bootstrapper-v2.exe, and more. The following are the errors and issues that players are experiencing along with their possible fixes and workarounds.

dowser.exe Not Found Fix

To fix this error verify game files which should detect that the exe is missing and will download it. if the error still persists, then go to your Steam library, right-click on the game> Properties> Local Files> Browse Local Files. Double click on “AowPF_Debug” and this will start the game for you.

Game Not Launching, Crash On Startup Fix

Age of Wonders: Planetfall players are reporting that the game won’t launch when they try to play the game. One possibility is that your nti-virus software or Windows Defender is blocking the game’s exe after falsely detecting it as a trojan.

You can fix this by either disabling your anti-virus software or making an exception for the game’s exe file in your anti-virus software.

AowPf_Debug.exe-System Error Fix

Age of Wonders: Planetfall players are reporting that when they start the game they get the following error.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall
The code execution cannot proceed because MS*******.dll was not found.

This error is probably popping up due to missing or corrupt .dll file. First, update your Windows OS as this will refresh the missing or corrupted DLL file.

If still, the error persists, then you need to do is install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 and 64-bit version Visual C++ Redistributable.

There is another way to fix this too but, I don’t personally recommend it as it can potentially compromise your system.. So do it at your own risk. You can manually download the “MSVCP140.dll” file from the internet by searching it on Google and copy it to the game’s install folder.

Low FPS, Stuttering, Performance Fix

Despite not being a demanding game, Age of Wonders: Planetfall is still facing performance issues. Here are a few things that will help you eliminate stuttering from the game and boost FPS.

First, make sure you are using latest GPU driver and there is no background process running that is using too much of your CPU, GPU, or HDD.

Open Nvidia Control Panel> Manage 3D Settings? Program Settings? select the game from the list and if it isn’t there then add it. Make the following changes.

Set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
set “Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”

This will eliminate stuttering and potentially boost FPS. Also, there is another thing that you can change here to boost FPS if you have the GPU and CPU to handle it. Just set Vertical Sync to “Fast” which can potentially boost game’s FPS.

Paradox Launcher Not Starting, Missing Bootstrapper-v2.exe Fix

Players are reporting that when they play the game they get the error “Paradox launcher won’t launch. System can’t find bootstrapper-v2.exe”. This is due to Windows Defender or your anti-virus software is detecting the file as a virus and has probably quarantined it.

Open your anti-virus software, and in the quarantined items look for “C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Programs\Paradox Interactive\bootstrapper-v2.exe”. Restore the file and create an exception for the game’s folder in your anti-virus and the game will boot up properly

Black Screen Fix

This is a common issue in PC games and is probably not a critical one. Start Age of Wonders: Planetfall and when the black screen appears, press “Alt + Enter”.

The game will go into the windowed mode and will start to display. Go to the video settings and change the resolution to your monitor’s native resolution and you’ll be able to play the game in fullscreen.

That is all for our Age of Wonders: Planetfall errors along with their fixes and workarounds so that you can play the game without any problem. I’ll be updating this article as I find more fixes.

Wolfenstein Youngblood PC Tweaks: How To Get 1080p/60 FPS, Skip Intro Movies, 30 FPS Lock

Wolfenstein Youngblood has launched for PC and consoles. While not much of the game can be tweaked on consoles, PC is a very different story. Here are some Wolfenstein Youngblood PC Tweaks that will help you achieve 1080p/60 FPS and eliminate performance issues among other things.

Wolfenstein Youngblood PC Tweaks

In Wolfenstein Youngblood PC Tweaks, I will be discussing ways to boost performance, how to skip the intro cutscene. Also, I’ll be taking you step by step for each of the game’s graphical settings and its impact on the performance.

Skip Intro Movies

Wolfenstein Youngblood has two unskippable intro movies and they get pretty annoying as players have to wait for them to play out. There is a simple way to skip these intro movies.

Open Steam and right-click on the game select properties -> set launch options -> add “+com_skipBootSequence 1”. Start the game and the intro movies will be skipped.

How To Boost Performance and Eliminate Stuttering

Before I get to explain each and every graphical setting for Wolfenstein Youngblood, first try these settings to see if they give you a boost in FPS and eliminate stuttering.

make sure you are using latest GPU drivers and that no background process is using too much of your CPU, GPU, or HDD. End the process if it’s using as it’ll cause FPS drops.

For Nvidia GPU owners, open Nvidia Control panel> Manage 3D Settings> Program Settings. Select Wolfenstein Youngblood from the list and make the following changes.

Set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
set “Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”

These settings should at least eliminate stuttering if not provide an FPS boost.

For those who own at least a GTX 10 series GPU with a decent enough CPU, there is another thing you can do to potentially boost performance.

Open Nvidia Control panel> Manage 3D Settings> Program Settings. Select Wolfenstein Youngblood from the list and set Vertical Sync to “Fast”. This will give a potential FPS boost if you have the GPU and CPU to handle it. If this doesn’t make any difference then just use the previous setting.

How To Lock At 30 FPS

Not all of the PC gamers out there have the system that can run Wolfenstein Youngblood at a steady 60 FPS. For some, the game will have variable FPS which often drop from 60 to 40.

This causes jitter during gameplay and ruins the experience. You can eliminate this jitter by locking Wolfenstein Youngblood at 30 FPS and it’s quite simple to do. However, it only works for displays with a 60 Hz refresh rate.

Open pen Nvidia Control panel> Manage 3D Settings> Program Settings. Select Wolfenstein Youngblood from the list and set Vertical Sync to “Adaptive Half Refresh Rate”. Apply the setting and start the game. Disable in-game V.sync and Wolfenstein Youngblood will lock at 30 FPS.

How To Get 1080p/60 FPS

Given that Wolfenstein Youngblood is a fast-paced FPS, maintaining 60 FPS is crucial. However not all PC gamers have the system equipped to play the game at 60 FPS with Ultra settings, no matter how well optimized the game is.

I will discuss each of the game’s graphical settings and its impact on performance and then will also provide you with optimal graphical settings for 1080p/60 FPS. Also, note that by a mid-range system I mean a GTX 1060 6GB with a 7th gen Core i5 and 8 GB RAM.

Anti Aliasing
Anti-aliasing is one of those graphical settings that hit hard on performance. Wolfenstein Youngblood has a number of anti-aliasing options for you to choose from which include TSSAA, TAA, SMAA, and FXAA.

TSSAA and SMAA are the ones that will cause FPS to drop if you’re playing the game on a low-end or a mid-range PC. However, TSSAA 8x provides the best result by eliminating aliasing but retaining sharpness.

TSSAA works in a similar manner to TAA but has better image quality. TSSAA 8x has 8 Temporal Anti-Aliasing samples compared to just one for TAA which causes a bit of blurriness for the latter.

However, TAA is a much better option if you want performance and aliasing removed. TAA almost completely removed aliasing from the game. However, it’s performance friendliness comes at a cost, blurriness.

Using TAA, the image quality will be a bit soft but not to the point that it becomes annoying. So if you are playing Wolfenstein Youngblood on a mid-range system, then TAA is the good options to keep the FPS target at 60 FPS.

If you are using TAA then you can try and tinker a bit with the resolution scaler, more on that later.

Performance: TAA
Best Image Quality: TSSAA 8x
Recommended: TAA with sharpening

Lights
This is another of the most demanding graphical options in Wolfenstein Youngblood. This setting determines how many light sources illuminate a particular scene, especially, at night.

This setting can cost up to 20 FPS in performance. So I would suggest keeping this setting at medium for a mid-range system and obviously low for low-end systems.

Performance: Medium
Best Image Quality: Ultra/High
Recommended: Medium

Shadows
This setting decides visible shadows in a scene. Uber and Ultra shadow settings are the ones to aim for a high-end system as they cast shadows across long-range views.

However, with an average FPS hit of 9 FPS, you can try using Uber shadow setting for your mid-range PC. But, these 9 FPS can make a lot of difference, so choose wisely.

Performance: Low
Best image quality: Uber/Ultra
Recommended: Uber(if possible)/High

Particles
This graphical setting determines the particle effects in a scene. You’ll notice that Wolfenstein Youngblood has an impressive particle effects system. using high is more suitable for mid-range systems as it’s much closer to Ultra and has less of a performance hit.

Performance: Medium
Recommended: High

Directional Occlusion
This is basically Wolfenstein Youngblood’s version of Ambient occlusion. Obviously, this is a setting that can potentially cause a serious performance hit. I would recommend using at least the low setting.

Even the low setting will make the scene look more grounded as turning this setting off has an impact on image quality and not in a good way. I recommend not turning this setting off even on low-end systems.

Performance: Low
Recommended: Medium/Low

Reflections
This is more of a personal choice as Reflections as we don’t pay much attention to reflection during gameplay. However, using the High reflection quality strikes a good balance between performance and image quality. Also, this graphical setting has a low performance hit.

Performance: Medium
Best image quality: Ultra
Recommended: High/Medium

Decals
This is another graphical setting for Wolfenstein Youngblood that has a minimal performance cost. You can max it out if you want. This setting determines the bullet impact visibility and quality. The lower the setting the less visible the bullet impact decals there will be and likewise for quality.

Performance: Medium
Best Image Quality: Ultra
Recommended: Ultra

Motion Blur
This setting is a personal preference as many gamers don’t like using motion blur while playing fast-paced FPS shooters at 60 FPS. Also, this graphical setting has a minimal performance hit so max it out if you want to use it.

Recommended: On

Image Streaming
This is an important graphical setting in Wolfenstein Youngblood. This setting is Texture Quality combined with texture loading setting. Meaning, the setting not only determines the texture quality but also the speed at which they load.

If you have at least a GTX 1060 6 GB, then set this setting to Ultra or Uber but turn it down if you notice a delay in texture loading. If you have a GPU with less than 6 GB VRAM then drop this setting to medium or low.

Performance: Medium
Best image quality: Uber/Ultra
Recommended: Ultra

Water Quality
This graphical setting determines “the quality of the water simulation, the quality of the reflections seen on the water’s surface, the ability for water to affect the appearance of surrounding game elements, and whether the water’s surface correctly blocks the display of underwater detail”.

Using high setting provides a balance between image quality and performance. I personally recommend high if you can manage it as there is a lot of water in the game.

Performance: Medium/Low
Best quality: Ultra
Recommended: High

Volumetric Quality
The lower setting might cause some artifacts but they are hardly noticeable during gameplay. If you want to squeeze out some performance then keep this setting at low.

Performance: Medium
Best image quality: High
Recommended: Low

Material Aniso Filter, Decals Filtering, Image Aniso Filter
These are basically anisotropic filtering options. Keep it at max as the performance hit is almost non-existant for these graphical settings.

Recommended: Max

LOD Switch
This graphical setting determines the Level of Detail at long-range views. This setting also doesn’t have much perfomance cost, so keep it at max for mid-range systems.

Performance: Medium/Low
Best image quality: Ultra
Recommended: Ultra

Deferred Rendering
This setting actually improves perfomance for some configurations. So keep is on but it can’t be used in conjunction with NVIDIA Adaptive Shading.

Performance: On
Recommended: On/off(if using Adaptive Shading)

GPU Culling
This setting only renders details in the player’s FOV. Meaning if you aren’t looking at a building it won’t be rendered completely until you are looking at it in-game. While this can result in performance gain but it also has the potential to cause FPS drops for modern Nvidia GPUs so turn it off if you notice perfomance loss.

Performance: Off
Recommended: off/on(for a low-end system)

Async Compute
Enable this setting if your GPU isn’t already bottlenecked by your CPU. this setting will only benefit if you have enough CPU resources to spare while also playing the game. This setting provides better results on RTX 20 GPUs.

Performance: On
Recommended: Off as perfomance gains on GPUs prior to RTX 20 series sees a minimal advantage.

Depth Of Field and DOF Anti-Aliasing
Depth of field helps a lot in building a scene and I recommend turning it on. If you decide to use Depth of Field then also turn on the DOF Anti-Aliasing with minimal additional cost. Also, I recommend these settings for at least mid-range systems.

Performance: Off
Recommended: Off

HDR Bloom
If you have a display that supports HDR then definitely enable this setting. Otherwise, there is no use turning it on.

Sharpening
This graphical setting comes in handy if you are using TAA antialiasing, as this AA solution causes a bit of softness in the image quality. It has no performance cost at all.

Resolution Scaler
Keep this setting at 1 unless you have a high-end system and are playing the game on a 1080p display. The higher the scaler goes the higher the rendering resolution will be and higher the performance cost.

Performance: 1.0
Recommended: 1.0

Now that you understand how and what each of the Wolfenstein Youngblood graphical settings does, you’ll b able to pick and choose the right setting for a steady 1080p/60 FPS experience.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Fatal Error, Flickering, Beta Save Files And Crash Fix

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is now available on PC and while reviews are highly positive, there are some technical issues and errors in the game. It is nothing to worry most games have some errors at launch. Developers are working on fixing many of the reported issues. But until there is an update with fixes, we do have unofficial error fixes for you to try.

There are reported problems on other platforms as well but the article will be focusing on the PC version of Bloodstained. Keep in mind that these are unofficial error fixes and while most of them seem to work, some errors may require official patches.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Errors, Crashes, Fixes, and Tweaks

There are certain problems affecting the Ritual of the Night right now such as the beta sale files issue, fatal error crash, and more. The following Bloodstained Ritual of the Night error fixes will help you deal with a range of different issues.

Fatal Error
Many are reporting crashes at launch on PC. There is a fix for the problem but the first thing you need to do is to make sure you meet the minimum system requirements.

MINIMUM:

  • Processor: AMD FX-4350 / Intel Core i5-4460
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 280X / GeForce GTX 760
  • Storage: 10 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: If you have a potato PC or above, you’re ok.

Often times the main issue is that your hardware is having trouble running the game. But in this case, the requirements aren’t that high so let’s discuss other possibilities. There is a fatal crash issue with Bloodstained Ritual of the Night on PC with Linux. Players are getting the error message:

LowLevelFatalError [File:E:\PB_DEV2\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI\Private\D3D11Util.cpp] [Line: 233] Direct3DDevice->CreateVertexShader( (void*)CodePtr, CodeSize, NULL, Shader->Resource.GetInitReference() ) failed at E:\PB_DEV2\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI\Private\D3D11Shaders.cpp:48 with error E_INVALIDARG.

Wine output error:

0079:err:d3dcompiler:compile_shader HLSL shader parsing failed

A possible solution to this is creating a wineprefix via the latest DXVK and run Bloodstained but use the wine version from steam (~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 4.2/dist/bin/wine). Make sure you need the save file to the new prefix.

Fatal error is affecting Windows PC version of Bloodstained as well. Navigate to C:\Users\AppData\Local\BloodstainedRotN and make backups of the files there and then delete them. Now start the game and the error won’t bother you again.

If this doesn’t rid the game of the Fatal error, then the issue might be with your GPU. Fatal errors are also caused by overclocked GPUs or older GPUs running latest games.

If you have overclocked your GPU or its factory overclocked then reduce the GPU clock speed by 100 MH. For this purpose you can use third-party utilities like MSI Afterburner.

In case you don’t want to take the chance then you can resolve the issue by locking the game at 30 FPS, provided the issues is caused by the GPU. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings. Select the game and set Vertical Sync to “Adaptive Half Refeshrate”.

Flickering
If your game is flickering to the point it is unplayable, try to run Bloodstained Ritual of the Night in PC windowed mode. Running in windowed mode reportedly fixed the error for many players.

Crash Fix
Frame smoothing is one of the reason causing the game to crash. Disable it in the options and the game won’t crash again.

For some players the game is even crashing on startup. This kind of crash could be because of your anti-virus or Windows Defender detecting the game as a Trojan virus. Fix this by either disabling your anti-virus or making an exception for the game’s exe file in your anti-virus.

Messed Up Save Files
Did you play the beta and still have the save files? That’s the issue. When playing Ritual of the Night either completely delete the beta save files or save in an unused slot. To delete the old file navigate to the save file location once you havcreate a new save slot. Delete the Story_Slot0.sav and renaming the new save to that. Now you should be able to manually delete the corrupted save from the in-game menu.

Save location: %LOCALAPPDATA%\BloodstainedRotN\Saved\SaveGames

Xbox 360 Controller Not Working
Bloodstained Ritual of the Night PC errors includes an issue with Xbox 360 controller support. The only known fix is using the Big Picture Mode on Steam but that doesn’t work for everyone.

In case the big picture mode didn’t work for you, click Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Checkmark Xbox/PS4 Configuration Support, depending on the controller you are using.

Missing or Corrupted .DLL Files Fix
While trying to run the game, some players are seeing errors like “Msvcp140.dll Is Missing” or “api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0.dll”. This is due to outdated or corrupted Windows files.

You can fix this by updating your Windows OS with latest updates. If the errors bothers you then you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ redistributeables. You can find these at Microsoft’s official website.

You can also navigate to Bloodstained Ritual of the Night\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us and install the setups you find here. Start the game and you won’t be getting any .dll errors.

Softlocked Without Swim Ability
If you enter the water without swim ability sometimes you can’t jump out. We think this happens when you slide into the water. Apparently, the game thinks your character is still in her slide animation. Get hit by an enemy to fix the softlock error.

Black Screen
Black screen error doesn’t have a verified fix but some say running in windowed mode helps while others found pressing F11 useful.

As we find more error fixes for Bloodstained we will update the article so check back later if you’re desired fix isn’t listed yet.
