Corsair Says No Need To Wait For ATX 3.0 PSUs

The ATX 3.0 and Gen 5.0 (12VHPWR) standard is designed to fully support net-generation CPUs and GPUs and tackle the 3x power spikes that the hardware would create. Since the announcement of the RTX 4090, people are really getting interested in the new standard and are looking for ATX 3.0 Gen 5.0 PSUs but Corsairs says they don’t have to.

According to Corsair, the new Nvidia 40 series graphics cards are already compatible with the currently available Corsair PSUs. The RTX 4090 uses the new 12+4 pin 12VHPWR power connector but all cards ship with a PCI-e 8-pin power to 12VHPWR adapter.

The following is what Corsair had to say regarding the ATX 3.0 standard:

There’s no need to wait for future PSUs to support Intel’s new ATX 3.0 standard and CORSAIR’s power supplies already provide the needed reliability and quality components to support the higher power needs of the next generation of PC hardware. Whether it’s an RM1000 that’s seen many builds, or a brand new HX1500i, you can depend on your CORSAIR PSU to power your graphics cards into the future.

Asus RTX 4090 Variants

ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090

The Asus Strix RTX 4090 comes with a new design and aggressive gamer aesthetic. The design is rounded off similar to XFX models that we have seen in the past and I for one really like the new look. The card has a 3.5-slot design and a die-cast metal frame. It comes with a backplate, which is expected from a premium graphics card such as this. It is pretty large at 357mm long.

The graphics card features a 12+4 phase system comprising 70A power stages. Asus recommends using the ROG Thor 1200P2 power supply with the card. There is a BIOS switch on the card that allows users to switch between performance and quiet modes.

TUF GeForce RTX 4090

The TUF cards are supposed to be relatively cheaper. So there is little surprise that Asus has gone with a familiar design. The card comes with a triple fan cooler and there is minimal RGB lighting.

This is a chunky card and has a 3.65 slot design and is 348mm long. The card comes with a die-cast unibody shroud and an aluminum backplate. The backplate has cutouts for better heat dissipation.

The card has 5x 8mm heatpipes and 3x 6mm heatpipies which Asus claims increase contact area by 35% compared to the 3090 model. There is a BIOS switch on the card that allows users to switch between performance and quiet modes.

Asus RTX 4080 Variants

Asus Strix X670E-A, Prime X670-P Revealed

AMD Ryzen 7000 series is around the corner and as we get closer to launch we are getting images of AM5 motherboards from partners. Asus is one of the best motherboard makers and here we have the Asus Strix X670E-A and Prime X670-P.

Asus Strix X670E-A

The Asus Strix X670E-A is supposed to be a relatively mid-range motherboard and is ideal for people interested in building a white PC build. The motherboard has plenty of armor and VRM cooling. All the M.2 slots come with heatsinks, so you do not have to buy them separately. There is also an LED screen that you can customize.

While we have no confirmation regarding the specifications we can safely assume that at least a pair of M.2 slots support PCIe Gen5 and the top PCIe slot that is reinforced is Gen5 as well. The motherboard has plenty of I/O and comes with an integrated I/O shield for easy installation. Out of the box, the motherboard comes with Wi-Fi and it has a Wi-Fi antenna as well.

Asus Prime X670-P

The Asus Prime X670-P is supposed to be a cheaper variant and unlike the X670E chipset that supports PCIe Gen 5 across the board, this motherboard will either come with Gen5 storage or graphics card support, not both. Since this is a relatively budget-oriented motherboard, it does not come with features such as an integrated I/O shield and the two M.2 slots at the end do not come with heatsinks. I would imagine that these M.2 slots are Gen4 and not Gen5.

The motherboard does have some armor and there is decent VRM cooling but there is a clear difference between the Strix and the Prime models. You even get less I/O compared to the X670E Strix model. The motherboard does come with Wi-Fi out of the box and the antenna is included as well.

These are two new X670 motherboards from Asus that we have spotted. Let us know what you think about them and whether or not you are interested in upgrading to AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs.

Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC Box Leaked, Similar To 3090 Ti Gaming OC

The next generation of Nvidia RTX 40 series graphics cards is supposed to launch soon and we are starting to get related to them. Here we have the leaked box of the upcoming Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC

Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC Box

While the images are not all that clear, we can see that this is a triple fan graphics card and is very similar to the previous RTX 3090 Ti Gaming OC from Gigabyte. So you can expect to see a similar cooler. The marketing material on the box confirms that the graphics card is going to feature 24GB of VRAM which should be great news for future-proofing for those interested in getting this graphics card for 4K or even 8K gaming.

The Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC will come with a 4-year warranty. Other images show that the center fan spins in the opposite direction compared to the ones on the sides. This should help increase airflow and improve heat dissipation. This seems like a very beefy card and seeing how chunky the RTX 30 series cards were, I am not surprised.

The marketing confirms that the card comes with vapor chamber cooling, which is not surprising. It also has a backplate with cutouts for better heat dissipation. All this is expected from the premium graphics card which the Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC is. As this is an OC variant, it should come with a factory overclock out of the box.

You should take these images with a grain of salt as we have no means of verifying whether or not these are even real or actual packaging for the upcoming RTX 4090. We have included an image of the Gigabyte RTX 3090 Ti Gaming OC to give you an idea of what this upcoming RTX 4090 graphics card is going to look like.

According to reports, while the 4090 will have the same amount of VRAM as the 3090, it will have more CUDA Cores, 16,384 rather than 10,496. It will also have 144 RT Cores rather than 82 and 576 Tensor Cores rather than 328. The memory buss is supposedly going to be the same for both, 384-Bit.

Let us know what you think about this RTX 4090 leak and whether or not you are interested in upgrading to the 40 series of graphics card. We do not know anything about pricing right now, so stay tuned for more information.

AMD Ryzen 7950X CPU Benchmark Reveals 40% Better Multicore Performance Than 5950X

AMD Ryzen 7950X is the upcoming 7000 series CPU that features 16 cores and 32 threads. This is a 5n chip that works on the AMD AM5 socket and can boost to 5.7GHz. A new AMD Ryzen 7950X CPU benchmark reveals that is performs about 40% better than the previous generation 5950X.

AMD Ryzen 7950X CPU Benchmark

The CPU-Z scores are in and the benchmark reveals that the AMD Ryzen 7950X is able to score 819.3 points in the single-core test. This is pretty normal and is expected but the interesting part is that the AMD Ryzen 7950X scored 17654.2 points in the multi-core test which is a massive performance increase when compared to the AMD Ryzen 5950X.

While performance gains are expected from the new chip compared to the previous one, this increase seems abnormal. These performance gains do not match the Cinebench R23 results that revealed that the AMD Ryzen 7950X performs 34% better in single-core and 23% in multi-core tests compared to the AMD Ryzen 5950X.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the best test to compare CPUs and we have no way of knowing whether these numbers are accurate or even if this image is real. I could be fake for all we know. So do take these performance numbers with a grain of salt. The official release is around the corner so we should learn more about performance uplift in the coming few weeks.

Let us know what you think about this AMD Ryzen 7950X CPU benchmark and whether or not you are interested in upgrading to the new AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs.
