PlayStation 5 Gonzalo APU Four Times More Powerful Than A PS4, Even Beats The GTX 1080

Sony has confirmed PlayStation 5 specs but avoided to reveal any specifics. We know the console will feature a Zen 2 architecture based APU with Navi graphics, presumably named Gonzalo APU. Now a report has surfaced suggesting that PlayStation 5 Gonzalo APU is four times more powerful than PS4.

This report comes from a well-known leaker in the PC community, Tum_Apisak. He recently posted Firestrike benchmarks and the benchmarks in question reveal the score for the PlayStation 5 Gonzalo APU.

According to the benchmarks, the PS5 Gonzalo APU features four-time the power of a PS4. This makes sense given that Sony is targeting native 4K gaming with PS5. According to the Firestrike benchmark, PlayStation 5 Gonzalo APU scored over 20000 points.

Not only that, if these benchmarks are to believed then Gonzalo APU is even more powerful than Nvidia’s GTX 1080, which itself is a powerful GPU. Also, the results mentioned might be from an engineering sample for the PlayStation 5 Gonzalo APU.

Meaning, we can expect even better performance for the final SoC. But given that this is just a rumor, take it all with a grain of salt until Sony or AMD itself confirms it.

Speaking of the PlayStation 5, Sony has confirmed that Navi GPU used for the next-gen console also supports real-time Ray Tracing. Seems like Nvidia will be facing a lot more competition in coming years as Xbox Scarlett also supports Ray Tracing.

But credit where credit is due, Nvidia is the one to actually introduce real-time Ray Tracing to video games with its RTX GPUs. We can’t deny the impact Nvidia had which eventually compelled console manufactures to take ray tracing into consideration for their next-gen consoles.

Also, the reason why the PlayStation 5 Gonzalo APU is able to achieve such score is due to the fact that Zen architecture based CPUs are way more power efficient and offer better performance.

One only has to look at the CPU market to see how badly Ryzen CPUs are beating Intel CPUs. Meaning we can expect a higher level of performance in next-gen consoles and all thanks to the Zen 2 architecture.

Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER Perfoms Similar To RX 5700 (Benchmark Leak)

The Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER  is going to be announced in a few hours and a leaked GeekBench benchmark revealed what you can expect to see in terms of performance. The Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER performs better than the non-super version which is no surprise. The Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER performs similar to the AMD Navi RX 5700 from what we see in the benchmark.

In Geekbench, the Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER managed to score 248692 points. The graphics card was paired with the Intel Core i9-7960X. The benchmark confirms that the card will come with 8GB of VRAM rather than 6GB like the non-super version. This could make it a great card for 1440p gaming.

The non-super version is very powerful and can run games at 1440p but users have complained that the 6GB VRAM is not enough especially when using high-resolution textures; that is true. The additional VRAM should solve that issue.

You can check out the Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER GeekBench benchmark below:

Next, we have an Ashes of the Singularity benchmark. The Nvidia RTX 2060 scores 4700 points using the Crazy preset and the Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER is able to score 5200 points in the benchmark. Interestingly, we have seen Ashes of the Singularity benchmarks for the AMD Navi RX 5700 and it is able to deliver a score between 5200 and 5400. So, the performance of the Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER is similar to the AMD Navi RX 5700. At least in this benchmark.

Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER Benchmark

Next, we have some benchmarks of the Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER. It is no surprise that the card is able to beat the non-SUPER model. It is also able to beat the AMD Navi RX 5700 by a fair margin. The card scored 270978 points in GeekBench. It was paired with the Intel Core i9-7960X. You can check out the benchmark below:

In Ashes of the Singularity, the Super model was able to score 6200 points while the non-super version scored 5500 points using the Crazy preset. As mentioned before, the AMD Navi RX 5700 and it is able to deliver a score between 5200 and 5400. These are some interesting numbers but we will have to check out in-game scores in order to see which card is better.

These benchmarks are great but we need to check out actual performance as well. The Nvidia SUPER cards are going to be announced in a few hours. The reviews will be out in under a week and these cards will be available on July 9th. The RTX 2080 SUPER will release later this month. The AMD RX 5700 is going to release in the upcoming days as well.

Sapphire has leaked some of the upcoming models of the Navi RX series and we know that this is the same architecture that is going to power the upcoming generation of consoles.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Fatal Error, Flickering, Beta Save Files And Crash Fix

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is now available on PC and while reviews are highly positive, there are some technical issues and errors in the game. It is nothing to worry most games have some errors at launch. Developers are working on fixing many of the reported issues. But until there is an update with fixes, we do have unofficial error fixes for you to try.

There are reported problems on other platforms as well but the article will be focusing on the PC version of Bloodstained. Keep in mind that these are unofficial error fixes and while most of them seem to work, some errors may require official patches.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Errors, Crashes, Fixes, and Tweaks

There are certain problems affecting the Ritual of the Night right now such as the beta sale files issue, fatal error crash, and more. The following Bloodstained Ritual of the Night error fixes will help you deal with a range of different issues.

Fatal Error
Many are reporting crashes at launch on PC. There is a fix for the problem but the first thing you need to do is to make sure you meet the minimum system requirements.

MINIMUM:

  • Processor: AMD FX-4350 / Intel Core i5-4460
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 280X / GeForce GTX 760
  • Storage: 10 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: If you have a potato PC or above, you’re ok.

Often times the main issue is that your hardware is having trouble running the game. But in this case, the requirements aren’t that high so let’s discuss other possibilities. There is a fatal crash issue with Bloodstained Ritual of the Night on PC with Linux. Players are getting the error message:

LowLevelFatalError [File:E:\PB_DEV2\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI\Private\D3D11Util.cpp] [Line: 233] Direct3DDevice->CreateVertexShader( (void*)CodePtr, CodeSize, NULL, Shader->Resource.GetInitReference() ) failed at E:\PB_DEV2\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI\Private\D3D11Shaders.cpp:48 with error E_INVALIDARG.

Wine output error:

0079:err:d3dcompiler:compile_shader HLSL shader parsing failed

A possible solution to this is creating a wineprefix via the latest DXVK and run Bloodstained but use the wine version from steam (~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 4.2/dist/bin/wine). Make sure you need the save file to the new prefix.

Fatal error is affecting Windows PC version of Bloodstained as well. Navigate to C:\Users\AppData\Local\BloodstainedRotN and make backups of the files there and then delete them. Now start the game and the error won’t bother you again.

If this doesn’t rid the game of the Fatal error, then the issue might be with your GPU. Fatal errors are also caused by overclocked GPUs or older GPUs running latest games.

If you have overclocked your GPU or its factory overclocked then reduce the GPU clock speed by 100 MH. For this purpose you can use third-party utilities like MSI Afterburner.

In case you don’t want to take the chance then you can resolve the issue by locking the game at 30 FPS, provided the issues is caused by the GPU. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings. Select the game and set Vertical Sync to “Adaptive Half Refeshrate”.

Flickering
If your game is flickering to the point it is unplayable, try to run Bloodstained Ritual of the Night in PC windowed mode. Running in windowed mode reportedly fixed the error for many players.

Crash Fix
Frame smoothing is one of the reason causing the game to crash. Disable it in the options and the game won’t crash again.

For some players the game is even crashing on startup. This kind of crash could be because of your anti-virus or Windows Defender detecting the game as a Trojan virus. Fix this by either disabling your anti-virus or making an exception for the game’s exe file in your anti-virus.

Messed Up Save Files
Did you play the beta and still have the save files? That’s the issue. When playing Ritual of the Night either completely delete the beta save files or save in an unused slot. To delete the old file navigate to the save file location once you havcreate a new save slot. Delete the Story_Slot0.sav and renaming the new save to that. Now you should be able to manually delete the corrupted save from the in-game menu.

Save location: %LOCALAPPDATA%\BloodstainedRotN\Saved\SaveGames

Xbox 360 Controller Not Working
Bloodstained Ritual of the Night PC errors includes an issue with Xbox 360 controller support. The only known fix is using the Big Picture Mode on Steam but that doesn’t work for everyone.

In case the big picture mode didn’t work for you, click Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Checkmark Xbox/PS4 Configuration Support, depending on the controller you are using.

Missing or Corrupted .DLL Files Fix
While trying to run the game, some players are seeing errors like “Msvcp140.dll Is Missing” or “api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0.dll”. This is due to outdated or corrupted Windows files.

You can fix this by updating your Windows OS with latest updates. If the errors bothers you then you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ redistributeables. You can find these at Microsoft’s official website.

You can also navigate to Bloodstained Ritual of the Night\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us and install the setups you find here. Start the game and you won’t be getting any .dll errors.

Softlocked Without Swim Ability
If you enter the water without swim ability sometimes you can’t jump out. We think this happens when you slide into the water. Apparently, the game thinks your character is still in her slide animation. Get hit by an enemy to fix the softlock error.

Black Screen
Black screen error doesn’t have a verified fix but some say running in windowed mode helps while others found pressing F11 useful.

As we find more error fixes for Bloodstained we will update the article so check back later if you’re desired fix isn’t listed yet.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Beats Intel 9900K In Leaked Benchmarks

The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is the upcoming top of the line CPU from AMD that features 12 cores and 24 threads. At the moment, the top of the line Intel 9900K only offers 8 cores and 16 threads. This is why the announcement of the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is so huge. Here we have some leaked benchmarks of the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X.

AMD has provided some official numbers showing how the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X beats the 9900K. It is not surprising that the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is able to do so keeping in mind the additional cores and threads but you can check out the numbers below:

Interestingly the similar spec Intel 9920X costs around $1200. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X  on the other hand, will be available on July 7th and will cost $500. That is great value for money.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, Ryzen 7 3700X Benchmarks

The above benchmarks are official numbers but we have some leaked AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Benchmarks as well. You can check out the numbers below:

It is worth mentioning that the boost clock is lower than 4.3 GHz in the leaked benchmarks. AMD claims that the Ryzen 9 3900X will be able to hit a max boost clock of 4.6 GHz. This could mean that performance at launch will be better, with proper driver and BIOS support. With that in mind, do take these numbers with a grain of salt.

Next, we have some benchmarks of the Ryzen 7 3700X. This is an 8 core, 16 thread CPU. You can check out the leaked benchmarks of the CPU below:

AMD claims that the CPU will have a max boost clock fo 4.4 GHz and that is what we are seeing here. AMD claims that the performance of the CPU will be similar to the Intel 9700K and that seems to be the case from these numbers.

AMD has made a great comeback and is building on top of it. This is the 3rd generation of Ryzen that is based on the 7nm process and Zen 2 architecture. AMD is an actual threat to Intel and in a leaked memo, Intel actually admitted that these CPUs could beat Intel 9th generation CPUs. That is what we are seeing here.

All things considered, Intel claims to have a great strategy and roadmap to take on AMD Ryzen. How well that plays out is something only time will tell.

Nintendo Does Not Deny The Existence Of The Switch Mini

The Nintendo Switch Mini is supposed to be the cheaper version coming out later this year. We have seen and heard plenty of leaks and rumors but we have not heard anything from Nintendo itself. Analysts have predicted that new hardware or a revision is inbound for the Nintendo Switch this year.

In a recent shareholders meeting, Nintendo admitted that it knows about the rumors about the Switch Mini. It did not want to confirm or deny the existence of the device. Here is what Nintendo had to say about the Switch Mini:

We acknowledge that there have been reports [about this]. Answering to rumors and speculations would end up stealing surprises from our customers and also be unprofitable to all of our shareholders, so we have no answer to that. As a general theory, we are always performing development of new hardware.

While this is a generic statement, Nintendo has not denied working on the Switch Mini. This could be a way of saying that it is in the works but we are not going to confirm it just yet. Nintendo is known for keeping fans in the dark till the last moment, so this is not surprising a tall.

Analysts have predicted that the Nintendo Switch has been around for a while now. Now Nintendo will need to deliver new hardware in order to accelerate sales. This could mean a Nintendo Switch with better hardware or a Mini Switch.

Both options have been discussed in detail. The premium version will offer better graphics and more power. The Switch Mini is expected to be a more mainstream device that will be relatively lower in price. Fans have been working on concepts of the Switch Mini and some of them are rather cool.

I think that the Switch Mini would make a lot of sense if it is priced around $199. This could be a price similar to the PS4 Slim or Xbox One S on sale. We know that people are willing to pay more for portability and hence the millions of Switch units sold. The lower price point could motivate people that are on the fence.

Let us know what you think about the Switch Mini and whether or not you are interested in buying one if it does release later this year.

AMD RDNA 2 Based Navi Cards Leaked By Sapphire, RX 5950XT

AMD has announced Navi and RDNA2 but it seems that there is more in the works that what AMD is willing to share right now. Sapphire has not only confirmed that it will have custom RX 5700XT and RX 5700 graphics cards but could have potentially leaked AMD RDNA 2 Navi based cards as well.

The new leak mentions the RX 5700 and RX 5700XT which is not surprising because Sapphire only makes AMD cards. What is interesting is that it also mentions cards like the RX 590XT and some other cards that could be using RDNA2 Navi. The cards are named as follows:

  • RX 5950XT
  • RX 5950
  • RX 5900XT
  • RX 5900
  • RX 5850XT
  • RX 5850
  • RX 5800XT
  • RX 5800
  • RX 5750XT
  • RX 5750
  • RX 5650XT
  • RX 5650
  • RX 5600XT
  • RX 5600
  • RX 5550XT
  • RX 5550
  • RX 5500XT
  • RX 5500

There is no guarantee that these cards will ever come to market. These could be false flags to reduce the change of leaking the actual cards. It is also possible that Sapphire is just registering all the potential names that upcoming AMD cards could have. Looking at all these different versions, there is no way that all these different cards will release.

It is worth mentioning that rebranding older cards is a practice that we have seen at AMD. The RX 5500 series and the RX 5600 series could be rebranded cards or they could be more mainstream Navi based cards that feature RDNA 2. There is very little that we know at this point as even the first generation of Navi cards have not been released yet. With the release of AMD Navi cards, we might be able to learn more about RDNA2.

It is worth mentioning that there have been a couple of sources talking about Xbox Scarlett being powered by RDNA2. If that is indeed the case then it could be closer than we think. Xbox Scarlett is coming in the Fall of 2020.

Let us know what you think about all these different cards and whether you think at least some of them could be actual products that feature AMD RDNA 2 Navi.

Intel Thinks AMD Matisse Will Outperform 9th-Gen Coffee Lake CPUs

The battle between AMD and Intel has never been more intense. Intel has enjoyed the majority of the market share but things are now changing. AMD is doing impressive innovation in the processor space. Meanwhile, rival Intel has done nothing more than release slightly better yet more expensive generations every year. With AMD’s Matisse, the competition is expected to toughen.

Intel’s internal memo leaked a few hours ago and it is a very interesting look into how the company sees AMD. When you read the entire thing, one point is clear as day, Intel now sees AMD has a formidable foe. Intel itself admitted in the document that AMD is more innovative at a reasonable price. Some of AMD’s products offer better performance per dollar compared to Intel.

AMD announced its Matisse line of chips earlier this year and Intel knows the challenges it poses. According to the leaked document, Intel expects Matisse to outperform 9th-generation Coffee Lake CPUs in multi-threaded workloads, such as heavy content creation. This aspect is nothing new, AMD has mostly been favored by developers and content creators due to its ability to perform better during heavy workloads.

Intel 9th Gen Core Processors are likely to lead AMD’s Ryzen-based products on lightly threated productivity benchmarks as well as gaming benchmarks. For multi-threaded workloads, such as heavy content creation workloads, AMD’s Matisse is expected to lead.

What Is AMD Matisse and Why Intel is Concerned?

At Computex 2019, AMD officially revealed Ryzen 3000. AMD CEO Lisa Su confirmed Zen 2 Chipset-based architecture. The same architecture used in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett. AMD shared the Ryzen 9 product line with the all-powerful Ryzen 9 3900X processor. AMD’s top of the line chip runs at 4.6Ghz boost.

There are a total of fives chips coming this year and all of them are PCIe 4.0 enabled; meaning blistering fast data transfers. AMD Matisse details can be found here.

Ryzen 3900X is the most powerful and expensive member of the Ryzen 9 family.  It is AMD’s very first 12-core desktop CPU with a base clock of 3.8GHz, 6MN of L2 cache and 64MB of L3 cache.  The CPU is power efficient with only 105W.

AMD’s next-generation of Ryzen chips is launching on July 7.

Intel Has a “Great Strategy and Great Roadmap” to Counter AMD

Intel has had issues with the 7nm process and it has been delayed time and time again. AMD has been catching up in the meantime. Still, Intel claims to have a great roadmap and strategy to compete with AMD according to a leaked memo that was meant for the eye of Intel employees only.

Steve Collins, the Director of Data-centric Competitive Assessment Group at Intel talked about the great strategy and roadmap that Intel has to take on AMD Ryzen. Here is what he had to say regarding the matter:

Well, first, it’s clearly a challenging time. We have significant competitive challenges to navigate. That said, I think we have a great strategy and a great roadmap.

Intel to Emerge Better And Stronger

AMD has already announced the new Ryzen 300 CPUs that are based on the 7nm process. These chips provide improvements over the last generation and original AMD Ryzen chips.

AMD is competing on price to performance and it is clear that Intel is having some trouble keeping up. Intel has not been able to provide an 8 core CPU in the mainstream and AMD has already catered to that market for a while now. Here is what Collins had to say about Intel roadmap competing with AMD in the upcoming months:

While it has been a number of years since we’ve faced a similar competitive environment (in the early 2000s with 1 GHz barrier, integrated memory controller, 64bit, and so on)  Intel has risen to every situation and almost always emerged better and stronger.

AMD has a strong roadmap and it has delivered what it promised. The new CPUs support PCIe 4.0 which is a major improvement over PCIe 3.0. We have yet to see this technology implemented on Intel’s side.

Focus On Execution And Software

Collins did admit that execution has been an issue in Intel’s side. That needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. He mentioned that better execution would help the execute the roadmap and strategy that Intel has in mind.

Our focus needs to be on getting our execution in shape as soon as possible. We’re in a competitive time partly because of our execution issues, whether that’s related to our process technology node, or to our products that intercept those nodes. So I think that execution to our roadmap and strategy will help tremendously.

Other than that, Collins mentioned that Intel needs to work on the software side of things as well. I think that Intel should take a deeper look into its security as well.

Beyond product execution, we need to lean on our software expertise and strength and amplify our software differentiation — now more than ever.

The AMD Ryzen Threat Is Real

When AMD Ryzen was first announced, Intel seemed rather cool about it. Intel mentioned that it had the products to take on this new threat. That no longer seems to be the case. Collins mentioned that this is indeed a competitive time for Intel.

In order to execute the strategy and roadmap that Intel has planned, it needs to ensure that it sents the right message to the customers. Intel needs to have the sales and marketing teams co-ordinating with one another, now more than ever.

Finally, in competitive times, overall marketing, ensuring our customers understand our differentiated value proposition, along with customer obsession, are critical. Now more than ever, we need to Lean into our sales and marketing teams to help carry us through these product challenges.

AMD Ryzen is a real threat and it is here to stay. AMD has provided better support with the AM4 platform where users do not need to change their motherboards as frequently when compared to Intel.

AMD has also delivered impressive performance and competitive prices. Intel really needs to work on bringing its A-game to the table. Intel might have a strong strategy in mind and a roadmap for people to look at but the execution is key.

I would go on to say that if 10nm CPUs are not in the consumer market in a year, Intel is going to be in deep waters.
