AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs are now available and they are based on the new AMD AM5 platform. The new platform only supports DDR5 memory, so you will need to upgrade your memory if you are using DDR4 or an even older standard. Here are links to where you can buy the new AMD Ryen 7000 series CPUs.
AMD Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs Buyers Guide
The following are all the AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs and links to buy them:
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
Platform: AM5 | Cores: 16 | Threads: 32 | Max Turbo: 5.7 GHz | Max Memory 128 GB
This is the top-tier chip that AMD has launched and it comes with 16 cores and 32 threads. The CPU can boost to 5.7 GHz, which is very impressive indeed. The core and thread count is overkill for only gaming but this chip is ideal for content creators that are looking to render videos and maybe game on the side as well.
The Ryzen 7950X comes with a total of 80 MB of cache, 64 MB L3 cache, and 16 MB L2 cache. The CPU has a TDP of 170W and since this is an X series CPU, it does not come with a cooler out of the box and you need to buy one separately.
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
Platform: AM5 | Cores: 12 | Threads: 24 | Max Turbo: 5.6 GHz | Max Memory 128 GB
The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X comes with 12 cores and 24 threads, so it is still overkill for gaming but great for content creators that do not need 16 cores. The boost clock speed is slightly lower at 5.6 GHz and it supports up to 128 GB of DDR5 memory. It also has 64MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 170W. This also does not come with a cooler so you will need to get one separately.
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
Platform: AM5 | Cores: 8 | Threads: 16 | Max Turbo: 5.4 GHz | Max Memory 128 GB
The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X comes with 8 cores and 16 threads, which makes it ideal for gaming at higher refresh rates and resolutions. The extra cores and threads also come in handy if you do content creation on the side. The CPU has a boost clock speed of 5.4 GHz and 32 MB of L3 cache. The TDP is lower at 105W but you still need to buy a CPU cooler separately.
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
Platform: AM5 | Cores: 6 | Threads: 12 | Max Turbo: 5.3 GHz | Max Memory 128 GB
The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X features 6 cores and 12 threads which makes it great for mid-range PC builders. You can expect great performance in games at higher refresh rates and resolutions and snappy multi-tasking as well. The CPU has a boost clock speed of 5.3 GHz and comes with 32 MB of L3 cache. Its TDP is 105W and like the rest of the CPUs, this one needs a CPU cooler as well.
